Slippery When Wet (or Dry)

This review is about the Carbonization/finished/Dark Wood version, and not the light wood/unfinished-looking item.
Let's get to the -1 Star: This item is glossy in its finish and can be very slippery. I highly recommend placing down traction tape, or some other solution for slips. I would not use this to come out of the shower or tub. But I do use this when it is wet outside. With my traction tape, it feels safe; but that safe feeling comes from wearing shoes. I would not step on this barefoot anywhere near water.
Other than that, this product has just spent its second winter fully outdoors. It is under a porch covering but there is still some direct exposure to elements on the sides. The step is still sturdy, and the varnish seems to protect it well enough. I suspect in a couple of years I will have to treat it again. But after two years, so-far-so-great.
In fact, I just bought another for an upstairs deck. Here it will have direct exposure to weather, and I am not worried in the slightest.

We recently purchased a new mattress that is a bit higher than our old one. I found getting into and out of bed very challenging and dangerous. Although this product is only 3.5 inches high, it meets my needs perfectly. The quality of the finish work is fine, and the size of the step enables me to slide it out of sight under our bed frame. When I was a little boy, my father repeatedly told me: "We're too poor to buy the same product twice." If you need a step to get into and out of bed and feel that you need to buy a step. you won't feel that you have to pay for another step

I recommend this to anyone who deals with chronic pain or may be recovering from surgery and has trouble getting into bed without pain due to your bed height. I was nervous it'd be too short to be helpful considering how tall my bed is, but after getting it and trying it, it's a perfect height for me. The finish isn't too slick for bare feet, socks, or shoes in my opinion, but you can always buy grip tape at the hardware store to help add security if you feel differently. Has protectors on the bottom that keep it in place and protect your floor if it's wood. Doesn't tilt if you stand on one side due to the design. Fairly light weight which makes it easy to pick up and move. Can slide under the bed when not in use. Wood design is very pretty. I want to note that I have wooden floors, so the fact that this step doesn't slide around on them without purposefully pushing it is a pro.

Exactly what I wanted, would've preferred if the plants were 2x4 instead of 1inch thickness. Also, slightly more craftsmanship sealing off or sanding where screws were put in would have made a smoother finish. Overall a good product if you don't have time to make your own. I purchased this lovely little 4 inch step to help get me into bed. I had purchased, years ago, a bed with the really high box spring and mattress which was fine, even though I had to sort of jump into bed every evening - until I got a hernia. This little guy works like a charm for me - takes all the stress and pain out of getting into and out of bed. It's the perfect height - I stand on it and just slide right into and out of bed relieving all that discomfort. I use it to reach into my kitchen cabinets - it's so lightweight I can easily move it around my place and it's really good looking. Looks like a piece of real furniture. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
