I used the french cleat to hang my decorative door. I plan on putting shelves on the door, but I hung the door so it touches the floor perfectly, so the cleat has very little weight on it. There will be more with book shelves on it, but it balanced perfectly. My husband had no clue what I was talking about, but I've done some large paintings and used french cleats to hang them.
