Great price! Worked perfectly to give my old NAS HD new life as external storage backup.

This product is terrific for the price. The fan built into the enclosure was what determined my purchase.
I had 2 4 tb NAS HDs in a synology NAS. I upgraded one drive to an 8 tb model, but wanted to continue using the 4 tb drive I upgraded from since it had zero errors / issues.
It was easy to mount my HD. I plugged it into the back of my synology and I'm copying a couple TBs of data to use as an offsite backup.
Truly a plug and play product that I highly recommend!
Hoping it lasts long ðŸ'

Still not the quality of my OLD fantastic Antec MX-1 case. Sadly Antec did not update the SATA interface board to support drives over 2T.
The Way too plastiky and really dumb drive attachment screws aside, the FIDECO case has a good SATA interface board with auto shut off...only IF you sleep the computer. Sadly the case and fan will not auto shut down if ejected but at least the drive stops spinning. My portable 4t drives turn off when ejected and only restart when computer full restarted or plugged back in. Saves a lot of unused wear and tear.
What happened to users who want to layflat their cases? The fan port gets blocked laying flat or stacked! I used 3/8" felt stick-ons to raise the case for layflat air flow. IMHO cases that are not flat tend to get knocked over as my now dead cat has proven in the past.
My long run temps hang around 38-40 C depending on workload. Thankyou! It's still a keeper.

You need the case with a fan!

I have two of these now, one purchased last year and this recent purchase. Both have 4TB Seagate IronWolf NAS hard drives in them. Installation of the hard drive is super simple and there is an on/off switch for the fan. Why wouldn't you want the fan? All hard drive cases should have one.
I've stacked them on top of each other on their larger flat side using some slip resistant pads/feet on each corner. This also raises them up for better air circulation since the fan is on that side. Each hard drive runs at 77 degrees F in these cases.
The USB 3.0 cable is a decent length but it's just a little shorter than I need so I replaced them with 3' cords. Now I don't worry about pulling on them and dropping them on the floor. Other than the cord I am perfectly satisfied with these cases. I wish the same brand was available for my external Blu-ray drive.

Overall good product but with a design flaw

I was looking for a USB 3.0 enclosure (with fan) for my 3.5 inch HDD and they are not easy to find. No matter what anyone says, you need an enclosure with fan to regulate HDD temperature. I have tried full metal enclosure without fan in the past and they didn't do a good job limiting the HDD temperature. The fan in this enclosure did a good job and the HDD temperature was kept below 34C even after few hours of operation. Data transfer speed was on par with typical USB 3.0 so that's good. Also, the pull and rotate stand was pretty cool. My biggest issue with this product is the press open door (removing one star). HDD enclosure is a product in which once the HDD is installed it remains closed for years. Why would you install a press mechanism which is supported by flimsy plastic parts when all you need is couple of screws. The placement of the press mechanism is such that when you pick up the enclosure, you may accidently open the enclosure door. If this issue is fixed, then its a great product.
So Far Working Just Fine

I'll first start off that the manual was unclear that the unit had to be hooked up to my laptop in order for the fan to work. I wanted to test it first. It must draw the power from the USB port for the fan and the 12v adaptor is only for the HD. Everything has been working just fine. I wish the LED was on the end with the POWER ON button and not on the opposite end. Fan is very quiet imo.
