Held up well, but.....

My son and I bought hammocks to try out on an overnighter. The hammock itself seems to be fairly well made, as it held both he and I, and neither of us are small guys. (One of us at a time, of course....lol) The seams are triple stitched and the carabiners are plenty strong enough, although their design is the old type with the barbed latch that makes inserting straps slightly more difficult. Not unbearably so, though.

However, her comes the "but". The tree straps weren't more than an inch wide and maybe 4' long...? Definitely not long enough to strap to anything large enough to actually hold a full-grown, average human being. I ended up having to buy a set of looped straps to make this work. That is my only major complaint, really. Otherwise, not a be price point for a decent hammock, but you will definitely need to invest in longer and better straps.
Great product, but the included "ropes" were useless to this "non-boy scout".

Part of me wants to ding this product a star for the crappy excuse for "ropes" it provided, but I can't do it. It's a fantastic product and a great price ($13 when I bought it). We've only used it for a week so far so I can't attest to its longevity, but it held my 6'2" 300lb. butt as well as took the abuse from 2 or 3 kids at different times and didn't have a problem. The photo shows my daughter and her friend playing a board game in it.

I did have to buy a pair of PYS Hammock Straps because the ropes that came with it were pretty useless. They were just straps, no loops, hooks or even instructions. I did some google research on how to tie a proper knot for a hammock, but the results weren't something I would trust. Plus the straps really didn't impress me in terms of length and strength....we had to use it on some pretty WIDE trees.

But the hammock? Wonderful.

Pros:
Very light weight but strong.
Built in carrying bag turns into storage pouch.
Cheap!!...but in cost only. Stitching looked solid.
Dries very quickly as well.

Cons:
You really need to buy a better set of straps. I recommend the 20ft. PYS Hammock Straps.

Happy hanging!
The included strap is completely useles

If you want to buy one hammock off Amazon and use it, this is not the one to buy. I would not trust these straps to support my weight (120 lbs) if they were even long enough to go around any tree. They are incredibly thin and not long enough to be usable, I don't see why they would cheap out so much here when there are other hammocks at this price point that do a phenomenal job.

If you have spare rope to use to tie around a tree, then you could get this hammock and be satisfied, sure, but the extremely thin "rope" that comes with it is also what's used to attach the carabiner to the hammock.

If you only want to use this a few times, and on small trees, it should work for you. But I'd recommend spending the extra $1 or two on a better hammock with locking straps or looped straps. I'm ready to return this
OK but short straps

I am not sure of the durability of this since I have only used it a couple of times. However, it is good for one person and easy to put away. The straps are way too short. They can be put on small trees but then the trees might be too weak to hold up a person. So you might have to get some extra ropes or straps, which it may or may be be worth it in relation to the price. It might be better to just get one with longer straps even if it costs a few dollars more.
Fat Guy approved!

I've wanted to try hammocks for a while, my son is 10 and weighs about 65lb, I'm 35 and weigh 320lbs, so I was pretty skeptical that a hammock this cheap ($13-14) would hold me. I bought one for each of us, and this past weekend we took them on a cubscout trip. We did practice setting them up before hand, and like most of the reviews the included tree straps are pretty useless, stopped at the hardware store and picked up a pack of ratchet straps and no prob. I was very nervous getting in the first time being such a heavy guy and anticipating hearing a snap and hitting the ground, but it never happened. The straps on the end of the hammock look small and week but proved their strength. We slept in the hammocks all 3 nights on our trip and every night was great, we both fell asleep quickly and woke up refreshed. The other reviews complaining about comfort may have been sleeping straight on, which you should sleep/lay at an angle of about 30 degrees. This makes a big difference, and at 5'10 and 320lbs if I can fit in there comfortably, anyone should be able too. The only complaint I can justify is the tree straps are inadequate at best. They are strong enough just not long enough, but at the price point I wouldn't of cared if they didn't even come with it. We used them to lash up a bag. Get some ratchet straps or decent trees straps, they will give you the most flexibility with different distances between trees as well.
