While I purchased these for sun protection, these afforded me excellent arm protection from the onslaught of biting ants, mosquitos, flys and other things for which I don't even know the names. Excellent for reaching into a flower garden to snip and prune. My only disappointment is that the light colored ones fray nylon threads and discolor after several washings, so they become outdoor gear, not clothing- they are inexpensive enough to put up with that.
