Could this be the perfect car camping mattress???

Got this yesterday and immediately inflated to test this puppy out. While I'll admit I was not a fan of the air pump requiring the attached nozzles to inflate the mattress (which means you have to hold it securely in the opening to ensure good contact while inflating as opposed to it locking in place), once I figured it out it inflated quickly. I should mention that I used an electric pump from a previous mattress purchase and have not used the battery powered one that came with this mattress. So I can't attest to whether it will fully inflate on battery power. But the nozzles are universal for my electric pump which is a nice plus.

I haven't slept on this mattress yet but was amazed at how comfortable it felt when casually laying on it. I much prefer the multiple stabilizers and the TPU fabric when compared to the traditional, O-beam support heavy duty PVC mattresses. TPU is softer, lighter and claims to be more durable than PVC and also doesn't have that strong "plasticy" smell.

While it is much much lighter than traditional PVC mattresses, I don't know how well this would work as a backpacking mattress for 2 sleepers. We use 2 Big Agnes Q-Core Deluxe mattress when in the backcountry as we can each fit our own in our pack and couple them together when setting up base camp.

The boston valve is new for me but seems like a good method for easy inflation/deflation and firmness adjustment. I found it easier to fully inflate with the outside valve as opposed to the inside valve since it doesn't let air escape if you have to reset the fit while inflating. You can also let a little air escape if you find it too firm by slowly loosening the inside valve but be careful, if you loosen too much you can end up dumping a lot of air and have to reinflate.

I'll agree with others who have said that the carry case seems much larger than necessary when this bed is rolled up. However, I can't help but wonder if Lightspeed designed it with the intent that the bed would be folded as opposed to rolled when stored to prolong the life of the bed. This bed remains inflated in my spare bedroom to make sure it doesn't have a slow leak before field tested and therefore, haven't deflated yet to see if it fits in its storage bag better folded.

The real test will come this weekend when my wife and I throw this in our tent with our pups and sleep on it a few nights. I will update my review then if the bed doesn't perform as expected but am totally loving this thing so far. If you are looking at a lightweight and COMFORTABLE option to the traditional car camping mattress, give this one some thought.
Worked great for camping trip in Redwood NF where I proposed to my girlfriend that night

It was worth spending the extra money on this ;)

I packed this into my backpacking backpack and yeah it was heavy compared to the tiny sleeping pads but that night was special because I proposed to my girlfriend that weekend, and I wanted everything to be perfect (i.e. no low quality sleep!). So it was worth it. We camped under the stars and on the banks of the Redwood Creek in the Redwood National Park, the only place where dispersed camping is allowed in the park. It was perfect.

She said yes, btw

My husband and I purchased this air mattress for a camping trip. However, when we tried to use it the first night, it would not hold air. We could not find a leak anywhere on the mattress and were left with nothing to sleep on for our entire camping trip.

Because were were just outside of the 30-day return window by about a day (we had purchased in advance for our trip) we contacted Light Speed for a replacement. Light Speed responded that they would only replace the mattress if they found that there was in fact a leak and if we paid for the return shipment. No customer should have to pay for return shipment of a faulty product, period. Moreover, why would a customer email for a replacement if the product was fine? When I responded stating that it was not fair to ask a customer to incur more costs associated with a faulty product, Light Speed has ignored me. It has now been over two weeks.

Do not buy Light Speed products.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this air bed!! Got it to use in a hotel room originally during a balloon festival. My 13 year old son (165lbs) slept on it for 2 nights and it never went flat! In fact it never felt like it lost any air at all! My husband (170lbs) and I (200lbs & pregnant) both laid on it as well and it fit us both perfectly! It is comfy and doesn't smell funny like other air mattresses. It is also WAY MORE RUGGED! We can't wait to try it out camping as well and for company at home! It is also very easy to inflate and deflate!
Used tent camping every night for 5 months, still works

So I have been using this air mattress tent camping every night since June 26. After the first night, I did have to add a little more air, but they stated that in the directions. After that I have never needed to refill the air mattress. This last stay I have been in the same place since July 21 (it is now Aug 8.) I have not needed to add air at all during this time. It has stayed filled. I do want to make a note, that at one place I stayed it was very hot during the day & very cool at night. That first night when I went to bed, I noticed the air mattress was not as full. I was worried that it had a slow leak, but the next morning I woke up & it was as hard as a rock again. I realized it was not the air mattress but the temperature itself! I filled it when it was warm so the air was denser. At night, when it cooled, the air in the mattress was not as dense so it felt softer, but in the morning the heat made the air expand again. Once I realized this I just smiled realized this was a great air mattress and worth the money. Also as it does not have a heat refractive index or whatever it is called, it can get air in the mattress can get chilly at night. My solution, I cover the air mattress with a wool blanket, then put a sheet over top, problem solved! Well worth the money! Update. I have used this air mattress tent camping every night from June 26 till Nov 26. It is still working fine for me!
