The towel rack in one of my bathrooms was loose for a long time and eventually gave up sticking to the wall entirely. I don't consider myself very handy so if I can do this you definitely can! I first bought wall anchors, then I removed the towel rack and realized that they had been used by the previous home owner and failed to work.
Watch a couple online to learn how to install these. They're very simple once you know what to do. The bad reviews I read seemed to stem from a lack of understanding of how toggle bolts work. A couple tips so you don't lose your toggle bolts inside the wall like I did on my first couple tries.
1. Make sure everything is facing the right way before you stick the toggle bolt/clip into the wall.
2. Make sure that the nail/bolt isn't too long for the wall. The first one I tried was three inches long and couldn't be inserted all the way into the wall
3. Make sure the towel clip thing (that you put your towel rack on) is on the nail before inserting it into the wall. You can't put it on after.
