Not so heavy cast iron

Awesome wok/pan. I use it for variety of cooking needs. As a wok, sauté pan, deep fry pan etc.. love the flat bottom that is crucial for my electric cook top. Light weight for its size and that is the star attraction. Came pre-seasoned, however I always season all my cast iron cookware myself before cooking anything. Need to be maintained like any other cast iron pan. It performs best on the gas stove or on a grill. The pan does not get heated all the way to the rim on an electric stove, but heat gets up to 3/4 portion if you use the big burner. I store the pan in my oven, if I am only using one rack in the oven for baking something, I leave the pan on the other rack greased up, that way whenever the oven is on, the pan will get seasoned in parallel. I do this for all my cast iron pans.

Heavy and heavy duty. This will definitely stand up to the test of time. It comes pre-seasoned, there is nothing wrong with putting it through 2 extra seasonings. Ours is used on a farm for a variety of cooking and other practical applications (heating water over am open fire). So far it has done well on propane, in wood coals, on flat top electric stove, and baking inside an electric oven. It was coated with olive oil for seasoning in an open wood fire and inside an electric oven.

I just got an induction cooktop and could no longer use my round bottom pan or the ring. I rarely write reviews, but wanted to for this item because I love it so much. It is indeed small and if I were making a stir fry for the whole family it would not be large enough, but thankfully the kids won't eat my stir fries and it's just for me and my husband. The heat is evenly distributed and I enjoy cooking with it. I love that it is a good sturdy pan but not as heavy as you would expect for cast iron, and certainly easier to handle than my small cast iron skillet. Surprisingly, the handles do not get very hot and can still be touched without burning. I ended up cleaning and reseasoning it before the first use and it has been a great tool in the kitchen with easy clean up. True it is not as smooth as you would expect for cast iron and you need to oil it after cleaning, but it is my new favorite kitchen item.
