Pretty cool first drinking horn with base. I was a little disappointed in the colors...was hoping it would be more exotic, but it was close enough to the image that I really can't complain. Just a warning though - you will definitely want to pour some melted bees wax in there before you take your first drink, because the smell on the inside is pretty stout, and I even grew up on a farm. It's a simple enough process, just heat up some bees wax and turn the horn as you pour it in to ensure even distribution. Once done, the smell is gone and you can start enjoying your favorite mead!

Ordered the 12" natural horn and love it. I was worried it would look plastic/shiny like some others online but it is much larger than expected and looks very authentic, and also sits well in the holder. Was a bit concerned about the smell from other reviews but mine has only a very mild smell if any. My brother claimed this was the best gift he'd received this year. He didn't put it down all night!

The ale horn is amazingly crafted and polished, the rim adds a nice detail. It is a beautiful piece. However, the included stand is lovely and functions well as a holder however it does not display the True Glory of the ale horn and if not used consistently will allow dust to collect.
This piece is functional as a alehorn and his beautiful piece of conversational art in your home. However, if you plan on using the horn outside of your home I really suggest you buy a holster as well.

My first AleHorn product was this unpolished 20" natural Viking drinking horn with stand and I couldn't have been happier with the purchase. Consequently, I have been a customer ever since, buying numerous products from them since March 20, 2017. I vouch that AleHorn delivers quality products!

The horn DOES NOT leak so your beer is safe. I have filled this horn to the brim on many occasions and not one drop is ever lost! In fact, the inside of this horn has a quality seal that is noticeable to the touch. There is no rough or pitted material, giving it has a smooth feel all the way around. I've had friends who buy similar products from other companies and they often feel porous on the inside. That is not the case with this horn! Any resulting spilled beer, I can guarantee you, will be your fault. Cheers to that!

Secondly, the horn has no smell to it. These horns, along with any horn product, are often susceptible to having strong odors. In my experience, this has never been the case with AleHorn products. If for whatever reason your horn arrives with any odor, just wash with warm water and dish soap. Do not use harsh chemicals!

As for the horn stand, it is crafted with the same expert quality as the horn and fits it perfectly.

Once my buddy saw my drinking horn so he ordered his own and, like mine, it arrived on time without leaks or smells. He was fortunate to have received a horn with a slightly wider body so it held a bit more beer than mine.

Drink 'til you reach Valhalla!

After several weeks of searching various sites for a drinking horn, I am SO pleased that I found this one. I ordered two of the polished, 12" horns with a stand included. The polish simply brings out the uniqueness of each horn without looking cheap or fake. One is just slightly larger than the other (his and hers) and both easily hold 12 oz of mead or ale. I hope the attached photo does them justice.

The first thing I did was smell them. One had no smell at all, while the other had a slight smell. Having read other reviews, I had prepared myself for something truly nauseating. Not even close to the case. I sprinkled baking soda in each one, placed them in a bag overnight, then hand washed them with warm, soapy water. I then filled them with cool water and let them sit in the stands for several hours. No leaks. The stands are sturdy and the horns did not tip or fall over.

Finally, it was time to actually drink from our horns! They'll be going with my husband and I to every beer or wine festival we attend. I love them and will purchase them again as gifts. Thank you, AleHorn, for a beautiful product (and bonus sticker!).
