I ordered these artist pencil sharpeners because my mother, who was a professional commerical and private artist, used this exact same style of sharpener and always said that the one she used was the same one she had gotten while still in art school. If one can last her that long with an occasional blade replacement, It's good enough for my little art projects here at home. I had one before but someone borrowed it and lost it. So now I have 6, definitely get loose all of these. LOL

Bought these for me, they have a replacement blade, I'm appreciative of that. Just learned that blades can be replaced on these things not just this brand. I love that they are sturdy and not plastic. Anyway, not for children, they're very sharp and they don't have a cover. For me they work great and I supervise my granddaughter when she is visiting and made sure she understands that it will cut her if she is not careful. Good luck.
