It definately works for the rain. I like that it's really big. The inside where your head goes is a bit uncomfortable and the metal things on the inside are sharp but I'm in the midst of modifing the head area to fit more comfortable so the metal isn't hurting my head. Other than that, it works for me.

So glad someone came up with this idea! I gave it 5 stars just for putting it out and coming up with the idea and making it work. However, you may want to put on a protective layer over your head since the metal parts can put a little pressure on your head. There is a band on them to go around your head, but it's thin. I put on a beanie hat and put the umbrella head part over it. My head is small, so I had to keep it tight causing pressure of the metals next to my head. If they could add some kind of cushion pads on the metal parts that would be great, but the beanie hat works too. I was able to work outside in the rain and have both my hands free. It's well worth it to me to be able to do that. It is sturdy and the size of a full-size umbrella. For what I needed it for, I would definitely buy this again.
