The Perfect Harness

The media could not be loaded. I scoured Amazon and read a lot of reviews before choosing to buy this harness for my black lab pup who, at the time, was about 6 months old. (She's now 8 months at the time of recording the video.)

This harness has a good width and ample padding so it doesn't dig into my dog's body. I just slide it over her head, click the buckle in on each side, and she's ready to go! (Just remember, the ThinkPet logo goes on top. My husband once tried putting it on the dog upside-down and it was ridiculous. But wait, it gets better...)

Note that there's a red clip on each buckle so you can LOCK them closed. The buckles are high-quality and I don't know why they'd need locking mechanisms, but they're there. (I think they might be for strapping your dog into a car seat--I don't have a car seat and I'd never strap my dog inside one, so I just ignore the sliding red locks.) HOWEVER, the red locks CAN accidentally slide into the locked position, and if you have a squirrelly hyper pup (like mine was at first), you might panic and think your fur baby is trapped inside the harness FOREVER. (I once walked into the kitchen and found my husband with the harness on the dog proper-side up, but he had a steak knife and was ready to RESCUE THE DOG FROM THE HARNESS. Seriously.)

I pounced and wailed something like, "Stop! I just bought that!"

I took away the knife and showed him that the buckles have red sliding locks that, with a gentle nudge, can allow a human to unlock and open the buckles with ease.

In addition to the fact that this harness looks quite comfortable compared to others, I liked the fact that it has a hook for a leash on the chest as well as the back. My pup was dragging me along as she choked herself to death when walking with just a collar. A harness with a chest-hook would supposedly get my dog to turn around and stop dragging me. (This DID NOT work for my dog! When the leash was attached to the front hook, she whirled around like a Tasmanian devil and played tug-of-war with the leash, dragging me down a mountain. I reattached the leash to the BACK hook and had much better results: she faced forward while dragging me along, but the important thing is that she wasn't going to choke and hurt herself.)

END GAME: This harness is fantastic if you put it on your dog correctly and understand how to use buckles! Puppies and dogs need to be trained to walk on a leash, and I'm a firm believer in using a harness to accomplish this. It's not going to allow a pet to choke and possibly damage their windpipe when they pull. (And I've never seen a puppy that didn't excitedly try to drag their human along on an adventure!)

My lab has ran, rolled around in, and swam in this harness. It has survived many adventures with dirt and mud, and even though I've never washed it, it's remained mysteriously clean and odor-free.

Finally, the reflective strips that go around the trim of the harness work great to keep my dog safe when walking in the dark. The gleam of light that comes off of the harness has helped me locate my girl when she's running wild during the night.

If you're looking for a high-quality harness that's comfortable, easy-to-use, looks great, and can handle the adventures of a rough and tumble dog (or a demure fluff ball), this is a great choice! If my lab outgrows this one, I'm not going to buy anything other than the next size up in this exact same style of a ThinkPet harness.
Great harness, except anti-pull front loop

Value for money is great.
Ease of use is great -- though can be tricky to tighten and loosen.
Color and reflectors are great.
Durability and breathability are great, especially for hot and humid summers.
My dog is right at 25 pounds so finding a harness that fits her properly in all the spots has been tricky, and this one was perfect for both neck/shoulders and around the middle/chest.
Back loop clip works as expected.

Front loop clip to prevent pulling doesn't work great. It causes the whole harness to move and twist when she runs after something and then is redirected by the front loop. Genuinely nervous to use it in case our dog manages to slip out of it. Due to the way it twists and slips, doesn't quite matter how tight it is, if she just pulled back a couple times, she could probably slip out.
Sturdy but not the strongest

I was worried this would be low quality. But it turned out it is a mid quality harness which is good. If you have a heavy puller and/or heavy digital would get a stronger heavy duty harness but for a mid sized wmoderate to low pulling dog this would be great. Some of the buckles are hard to adjust. There are 4. 2 are very hard the other 2 are ok. The pull handle on top I heard some threads popping when I used it to hold my dog when she tries to chase cars it didn't rip but it's clear this won't hold up to that kind of stuff for long.
As Advertised.

It was a little big for my girl but appears to be as advertised. I'm sure I will be happy once I get to use it.
My dog stopped pulling so much I thought the harness was too tight.

I purchased the ThinkPet No Pull Harness Breathable Sport Harness with Handle-Dog Harnesses to replace a well used two clip, strap type, harness. I intended to purchase a large harness size since HiJack's measurements were at the limit of a medium size but by mistake ordered a medium size. During the first walk (he walks/runs while I ride a bicycle) with the new harness, HiJack pulled so little that I thought the harness was too tight and was restricting his breathing. I now believe that using the top D-link instead of the front one is what produced the change (old harness did not have a top D-link). I love the reflective stitching as we have been taking our evening walks later because of the heat. I also love the pouch to keep dog tags quite. HiJack now appears to be very comfortable in the harness and does not seem to overheat faster than when using the strap type harness. The reason I did not give 5 stars throughout is because I have to remove the bike walk leash to attach the (longer) woods walk leash because the upper D-link is too small (good thing this harness has a handle!) and I'm afraid the smaller anchor for the D-link will wear out faster. But it has has survived a week and has been tested several times daily when HiJack spots a varmint during our morning woods walks.
