Some time it. time works "¦ some time it doesn't works
Maybe effective?

The media could not be loaded. I purchased this to deter the neighborhood Tom cats from marking their territory in my garden railroad. Many reviews said it was very sensitive and sprayed with leaves blowing in the wind. Mine will spray when it "sees" me or deer 50 feet away, but doesn't when smaller things pass right in front of it: chipmunks, a volleyball, a large scale train on the railroad - no reaction. There DOES seem to be a decrease in the cat smell, but since I never see the cat, I have no idea if he is visiting less or if the sprinkler even sees him if he does. The first several mornings had wet marks from the spray of the sprinkler on the tree in the garden, so something was triggering it in the overnight hours. I'm hoping it was the cat, and he has decided this is no longer his.
What can I say... it worked.

I used to own two dogs... past tense, as both have moved on to the Rainbow Bridge within the last year. Imagine my surprise when I found more piles of poop in the back yard after their passing! So I bought this motion-activated sprayer to combat the mystery critter. It took a couple weeks--the critter got smart and moved to a different location--but in the end (knock on wood) the sprayer triumphed over the critter. It has been three weeks now since I've seen any poop, and I haven't had the sprayer set up for the last two of those.
You can't tell from the photos, but the solar panel position is adjustable (horizontally). That was a pleasant surprise, as the peak sunlight was to the southwest of the unit where I had it set up.
On the bad side, the instructions included with the sprayer are minimal, and not 100% complete (and tiny!); but I managed to figure things out, so at least the set-up & operation are intuitive.
They also kind of messed up the hose connection. If you look closely at the photos, the connection at the base of the main unit (where the extension goes into it) is done correctly; i.e. there's a female coupler that screws onto the male threads of the extension. But if you look at where the hose connects, there is no such coupler. In order to screw the hose into the stake you have to twist the entire unit around the hose connector. So every time you need to use the hose for something other than the sprayer, you have to pull the sprayer out of the ground to unscrew the hose.
You'll also notice on the opposite side of the hose connection there is another covered connector. There is no indication what this is used for (again, due to minimal instructions), but I assume this is so you can string multiple units together; i.e. it is an output port that you can screw a leader hose into and connect the other end to the input of a second unit. Just a guess... and a nice feature if I'm correct, though I'd prefer to have the output at the side of the unit rather than the front.
This next criticism isn't really the unit's fault, but it will be best if you connect a solid hose from the water source to the unit. Don't use a flex hose if you can help it. The flex hose expands and builds up pressure, but when the motion-activated sensor goes off and the valve opens, the pressure in the flex hose drops and the sprinkler head doesn't arc like it should and ends up spraying in one direction. It doesn't make sense, but I've seen it with my own eyes.
Lastly, be careful how you set the sensitivity and where you point the sensor. On a windy day, the trees blowing in the wind will set off the sprayer repeatedly. On a rainy day, the raindrops falling down will set it off. The motion sensor is triggered by more than just animal movement.
And for God's sake, make sure your wife knows you put up a motion-activated sprayer before she decides to do any gardening in the back yard! ;-) The sprayer doesn't differentiate between friends and foes. By the way, another reason not to use a flex hose is because even if you turn off the water at the hose bib, there's still pressure built up in the flex hose and it'll continue to spray a few more times if the sensor goes off.
Overall, though, I'm happy with the purchase. I wasn't sure this thing would work, but I can't argue with the results. There are some inconveniences, for sure (hence the 4-star rating), but there isn't anything that can't be lived with. Overall a nice solid unit.

The range angle can be adjusted!

The media could not be loaded. My video explains how to adjust the range angle to 180 or 360 or whatever, along with some other observations. I forgot to mention in the video,
that there's a little screw on the sprinkler head that is used to adjust the spray/stream. I unscrewed it almost all the way to make it a jet stream. Functionality seems reliable. This is also an excellent summer dog toy if your dogs like chasing and biting water as much as mine do... I might buy another just for them to keep their shaggy selves cool and entertained. But I gave it four stars because the sprinkler head is plastic, so I'm concerned about durabilty, and the instructions are super weak.
