My balcony gets the late afternoon sun, so the Texas heat is miserable. These shades are great and I usually keep them half down until around 3pm and then they go all the way down. When I know inclement weather is coming, I roll them all the way up. The side facing the sun has faded and is brown, but the side facing inside has kept its color. I don't care about the fading since it still does it's job and I don't see it. Highly recommend

These shades are great, so much better than the ones made out of plastic straws. I only wish that the bamboo slats on these shades were wider, they're very narrow but I have not seen bamboo shades that are wider in years. They are light filtering but do a great job of keeping the sun off the porch so you can sit and enjoy the outdoors without being baked and blinded by the sun. I love the blue colors in the shades. Will see how they hold up.

These shades were the perfect color for my house and porch. First pic is from outside of shade, the second pic is on porch. Note how their color also matches the chair as well - I'm very glad I bought these shades. You can pull them up or down to any level you wish, to reduce the hot sun.
