Have you ever noticed how hard the metal of a mailbox is? Me either, until I tried to drill a hole! First had to use a small drill, then a larger one, and finally one big enough to put the bolt through. Trial and error, but it looks great and works ok, at least until the wind catches it and it partially opens. But if your mailbox is completely surrounded by bricks, it is the best solution to le the mail person know, "You've got mail"!

This postal flag only opens one way but can be read from any direction. I live in a high wind area. The fact that the "MAIL" lettering is hollowed out lets the wind flow right through it. It has a stop type clipping when open too. It does not leak rain/snow into the box. Very good and does the job. I used a drill bit to make a pilot hole to secure it in place.

Had a built in slide out flag in our stone mailbox that the postman broke so this is an option that has worked fine. The red flag did pop out once in a year but it pops back in easily. Going on 2 years so far

I love this. It's so cute and different. My mailbox is embedded in brick with very little room for a flag. I used gorilla glue on the back of it and attached it to the brick. There was not enough room between the top of the mailbox and cement ledge above the box, so I just wedged between the two as far as I could. So, it's slightly off center from the top of the mailbox, but honestly, you don't really even notice. And, it gets the job done. Also, as I said, it's so cute.
