Turns out the shipping is a large part of the cost for used barrels. If you can find one locally great. Amazon was the lowest cost option for me once l figured in shipping. The barrel I received was an Old Forester barrel which was very cool but heavy, still soaked with bourbon. My table gets lots of compliments.

We love it.
It did need some light sanding to clean some rust off of the bands. I used a marine grade satin polyurethane to preserve it since it's on a dock and it makes cleaning up spills easy. Next I have to find new stools

This was a beautiful barrel and I can't wait to use it for my deer mounts! I only put 1 star for giftable because it's a little pricey to give to someone as a gift, and a little heavy and large. I'd feel weird sending it to someone. But for what I wanted it for it is perfect!
