Regardless of the recommendation that "according to the size you wear, an 8 should fit," which begs the question, "How do you know what size I wear?" not to mention the fact that, even with my narrow to medium width feet and the generously sized toe box, size 8 is simply too short to comfortably fit a size 8.5 size foot. I'm trying a size 9 to see if my toes will no longer be sore at the end of a long day gardening. I otherwise LOVE these incredibly functional, waterproof, sticker proof clogs. I took the liner out immediately so that the stickers that can attach themselves to the fabric liner wouldn't have a place to lodge. The inside clog floor is a bit rough but I got used to it quickly. It isn't as comfortable as the inside of my Krocs but it is also not letting my feet get so dirty and dusty because the toe and toe box are entirely solid material. They are a great purchase if you get the right size. If your feet are smaller than the size considered, or the same size, then stick with the size that is the closest to your normal shoe size. Don't try to buy smaller, in other words, don't "round down." At least that's my experience.
