I have used a lot of clamps over the last 20 years, and I can honestly say, these are worthless. The basic problem is that they are poorly calibrated - the ratchet mechanism is too loose, so when you slide it up and turn the handle to tighten, it just slides down again. I bought them for a gluing project, so I didn't need a lot of pressure, but these provided NONE, simply because they were so fiddly to operate. Trying to tighten them was a very difficult job. And it goes without saying that the little plastic caps at the end of the clamp immediately fell off and kept falling off right after you put them back on. All in all, I regret purchasing them. I threw them in the trash - it would be too embarrasing and unkind to even gift them to someone. The worst clamps I've ever tried to use. Buyer beware - there are many clamps in the same price range that actually work, there's not a single reason to buy these - certainly not performance, and not even price. For inexpensive clamps that work, avoid these and look elsewhere.

UPDATE:

I was contacted by the seller and it was determined that I must have received defective clamps which happens rarely, but occassionally. As other reviewers have noted, they were satisfied with their clamps, so mine must have been faulty. In view of this, the seller has offered to rectify the situation, and I was very happy with the level of service from the seller - they really do stand behind their product, which is important these days, when so many other sellers don't care.

I therefore update my rating to 4 stars and now have confidence that the seller is in it for the long run. I would consider buying from this seller again in the future.

I have order this for our small wooden project work. This is the first time we have used this kind of clamp. It worked as expected. It plastic jaw did not leave any marking on the wood. It is easy to adjust and release. It is good tools for small home project only.
