I've been using the same chalk my dad purchased over a decade ago and finally started running low. Although he could not find the name of the brand we always used, he did find this Z Athletic block chalk and said it was probably the closest thing to what we had. I will preface this by saying I only use the chalk for powerlifting and not for rock climbing or crossfit.
For weightlifting, it's nearly perfect. The chalk my gym provides is frail and grainy often times slipping off your hands after a single application. Much like the chalk I have run for ages, this Z Athletic chalk feels good on your hands, eliminates grip slip, and gives that peace of mind that the chalk you've applied will work for you. I cannot recommend this enough. I went with with 8 pack to ensure I had enough chalk to last me for the foreseeable future and beyond.

Good for climbing, pretty sure it's Frank Endo chalk

I use this for climbing and it works just fine. I have pretty sweaty hands and this works just about as well as other stuff (Friction Labs, Black Diamond, etc.) but for much less money. Lots of old school climbers swear by Frank Endo chalk, and I'm 90% sure this is the exact same stuff. I've ordered both this and FE chalk and the box, wrapping, and country of origin are the same, with the only difference being the branding. Both are sold in a 1lb box of 8oz blocks, individually wrapped in plastic. The chalk breaks apart easily, gives good coverage, and keeps my hands dry for most of an average route. I'm subtracting a star because of the plastic wrapping, which is unncessary and wasteful (just use paper, or anything compostable).
NOTE: You will only get the superior Taiwanese chalk if you buy the box. If you buy the individual 8oz blocks you will get the inferior Chinese chalk (which is the type that seems to draw all of the negative reviews).

This is the brand they use at my daughter's gymnastics center and in team competition. So we also bought it for our home gym. My daughter likes it for uneven bars on gymnastics, and I find that it really enhances grip when doing bench, deadlift and rows with a barbell. All in all it seems like a good quality and reliable chalk.
I like that these can be bought individually. It takes very little chalk to improve grip on your hands, so it takes us months to work through a block of chalk. Being able to buy them individually as needed is handy.
