Nice product - Use caution when connecting directly to 3v dc

I was testing the LED diodes before gluing them into the heads, which by the way look real good, and I was using 2-D Batteries (1.5v ea - total 3v) and burned out 4 of the Red LEDs - I don't understand why, but I am now testing a Green LED using the 1k resistor supplied on a 12v dc circuit and the measured current flow is 5.3ma - so I think I am safe!
I would buy again with that caveat - USE THE RESISTOR supplied! I will test the remaining Red LEDs I have and update this review if necessary.
Update: Sorry, the power supply was 6v NOT 12v. Consider 6v - .7v (Led loss) = 5.3v Divide by 1000 Ohm = 5.3ma.

I produced a PC board to connect to the LEDs. The Red and Green LEDs are efficient and can be run at a low current. I used a 3mm Yellow Blinking Diffused LED Diode with a 1.5Hz Flash, in place of the one supplied.
Part is well made and was a nice added touch to my display.
Bear in mind this is not a complete kit, only the front face, LEDs and resistors. You have to provide a method to connect to the LEDs.
