I have had questions that aren't in any videos, or on the website. Every time I log in Fascist Google demands password, which this was suppose to supplant? I thought.$100+ for NFC and Bio versions and constant problems and issues. Even Microsoft which has key software built into Windows gives me grief! Before I only had to enter password, now key, at specific time, and password that I increased in size that triggers timer at times. This little key is starting to feel like a bully big brother!

I did have issues setting up one of my laptops with the software from Yubico. When I installed the software, I discovered that the password option had disappeared from the settings. I don't think it was their software. I am 99% certain it was something the kids did before hand; we had been using a pin# to access it. I tried everything I could think of to reset the password or find a workaround, but nothing seemed to work.
Eventually, I had no choice but to system restore the laptop to its default settings. It was a bit of a drastic solution, but I was at my wit's end and couldn't think of any other way to reset the password. Unfortunately, this meant that I lost all my installed programs. It was a major setback, but at least I was able to retain access to my files and set a new password with the login manager.
Overall, I would highly recommend YubiKey to anyone looking for a simple and effective way to protect their online accounts and devices. It's a versatile and user-friendly tool that provides an added layer of security to keep your information safe from prying eyes, and genius kids.

I had been thinking about using Yubikey for a long time but I was fortunate enough to attend a zoom conference in which the legendary cybersecurity expert and one-time bad boy hacker Kevin Mitnick spoke approvingly of it, as did other cybersecurity experts I respect. After looking at copycat competitors I decided that the best bet was to go with the 'original'. I bought three - one as a back up and one for my phone. Wait times were not fantastic, some had several week delivery times, but as I recall this one came fairly promptly.

Getting it to work was not half as difficult as some people seem to think. I just needed to click around my email privacy and security settings and it was pretty straightforward. Much easier than using phone 2FA and far more secure.

What will happen if I lose my phone? Will I lose access to my accounts?

Nope. Because I have a Yubikey in a secure location. If I lose the phone, I still have 2FA and can access all my accounts and simply remove the lost phone from the 2FA.

Problem solved.

This product is IMHO an absolute must for anyone engaged in journalism, financial transactions online or who, like me, worries that they might lose their phone. Which is just about everybody. The extra bucks for a backup are also a good investment. Can't recommend this highly enough, if it had an extra star I would award it.
