Got this for Easter egg prep. A friend has plans for the kids to paint by throwing eggs full of paint at a Canvas. Last time we spent the night before trying to crack eggs just right. I saw this and figured I'd give this a try. Well works great. Just press against the egg and let the weighted spring pop the egg makes a nice clean cut. I'm using this on raw eggs and no issues. I don't want to start a Lilliputian war or anything but I found that it does work best on the pointy side of the egg. I think this is only because the eggs are raw. Cooked eggs I really don't think it would matter. Cleans easy enough. If you really want and easy clean cut on your egg, this works great.
