I had a thum nail that was 'hanging on' to my thumb that would really hurt to rip off the thumb, so I did not want to do that, but I was afraid that leaving the nail unprotected would leave it vulnerable to getting knocked off as I proceeded through my days. This did work to cover my nail and 'protect it' from being ripped off my thumb, as if it would have ripped, it would have really hurt, as it was far below the end of the thumb before the nail-line.
I'm lucky to have a job that doesn't require a lot of writing and/or taking note. I don't know how easy it would be to write rearing the nail protector. It was a little difficult for me to work at my job with the finger protector on, and I work part-time as a package-handler, hancdling small packages.
