Love this. First time, stopped after 5 seconds, didn't work. Second time, stopped after 3 seconds, looking for the box. Third time, 4 seconds, took the box out, ready to send it back. Fourth time, bingo! Had it going for about a minute and a half before I felt the burn. Never had one before and I can see how it will help. First, the winding. You don't have to wind it until it locks. Alternating thumbs, about 15 turns did it for me. Ordering another for the office. Excellent value and the lights are fun.

I've used the NSD powerballs since aroud 2001, so have over 20 years of experience with them and consider them the gold standard.

I bought this hesitantly since I broke my NSD and didn't want to drop the cash one of NSD's nicer models. This is a little larger which is great as it gives you more of the fat grip effect. The other thing I noticed is that it's much easier to get a pump with this. Not just because of the larger size, but it generates more force at a lower RPM. I'm pretty impressed. I don't know if that's just a function of a larger diameter or if the metal plays a part in that. Either way this has exceeded my expectations. If it proves to be as durable as the NSD I would say this is a better ball than the standard blue NSD powerball. I'd love to use it side by side with NSD's higher end balls that cost a fortune for comparisson.

Had one when I was a teen. This one starts super easy. Works great

I had bought a cheaper version of this, like the effect it was having. Don't know if it's the diabetes, or one of the other health issues I have had, but steadiness in writing sucks. This helped me a lot.

This version, does work for the most part. But advertised "auto start" is a bit of a joke. You have to crank this thing to the point where you think you're going to break it and on a good day that can be pretty hard. Cranking consists of turning the inside sphere of it to the point where it "locks", then having spent time of learning how to properly rotate your hand to make it work. quickly start your wrist to keep it going.

Once you've done this once, you'll find that just your hand oil will make it hard to get it to the cranking point. Keep a paper towel or something to wipe the inner sphere down with.

Sometimes, you think you've wound it up, only to find out that it didn't. So, that can be a bit frustrating.

You also have to totally avoid where the inner sphere pokes through to the upper surface, else risking a very painful pinch (of your palm), which can leave a bit of a bruise.

Final thing, the counter is a bit pointless, and is sitting right where you would be "palming" the device, which just gets in the way.

What would be great would be if they could apply at least some texture to the inner sphere so that you could more easily wind it up.

Still have it, use it, don't regret buying it, but it is a bit on the quirky side.

The media could not be loaded. I've had many variations of these gyro balls, powerballs etc. over the years. But this one is the heaviest beast I have spun up.

Pros.
1. Weight is stout and really work which ever muscles you are targeting. (Depends on how you brace your arm and position)
2. Auto start feature is effective. But once you get the "feel" of it it's not needed. (In the video I start it with 1 hand.)
3. Easy to clean. Twist apart and easy to clean dust, plastic, etc.

Cons
1. Slippery, Its polished aluminum and the rubber grip around the center tends to slide off.
2. Size might be to big for some. It's a good bit larger than my NSD powerball. If you have larger hands it's great but smaller hands might find it uncomfortable.
3. Housing halfs have to be tightened up every so often. Not to big an issue but a little annoying.

If those pros out way those cons in your eyes buy it. Your grip strength will be unmatched!
