Very durable. Great cage with a caveat for my personal use
Harbinger77✓ Verified Purchase•July 16, 2023
I really liked this cage. It was very snug fitting and durable. It offered great protection for my GoPro. I had two issues neither was a deal breaker. One, the 52mm glass filter holder does exactly what it's supposed to do, but I found that it threw off the balance of the GoPro. It also gave the GoPro a larger form factor, which was an issue from time to time when using, or storing, in a very small space. Secondly I use an off brand door that allows a usbc to plug into the GoPro. This door makes the GoPro not fit when trying to put it into the cage. Certainly not the fault of the cage, but it made it more challenging for my uses. So it's something to be aware of for other users. That being said, the quality and workmanship of this product is wonderful and I recommend it.
Great case

I use this case for recording on my dirt track car. It works good, but doesn't quite tighten down enough, just a touch loose. It's fine for what I need it for since the car is bouncing around a lot anyway.
Another complaint is that the plastic piece that goes against the screw between the camera doesn't stay glued on. Easy fix but it happened at the track and
We didn't have any glue. Added super glue to the list of trailer supplies though.

Exactly what my GoPro cameras need!

This is exactly what I needed and more!
PROS:
- protects the camera from harsh conditions (60 mph+ dusty winds)
- provides an opening to easily open/close the battery/SIM card panel as well as accessing the USB charger
- easy to insert/remove the GoPro Hero 10
- easy to clean (most of it)
- multiple possibilities to attach to various mounts/rigs
- option to remove the filter (I keep it there mainly to protect the GoPro lens)
CONS:
- two very small holes in the back of the lens area appear to be there to prevent condensation/fogging, but allow dust to pass in
- hard to clean in a couple areas (not critical in any way)

Exactly what I was hoping for

While researching these metal frames for the GoPro I came across some without doors on the back and some with doors but you had to take off the cold shoe to remove it. I'm happy to say that that is not the case with this particular frame. The cold shoe sits flush with the frame housing and allows you to slide the door off without taking the cold shoe apart. Came with UV lens and cap. My only complaint is the side screw that secures the camera in place. There is just a piece of plastic on the inside that is semi glued to the end of the screw to protect it from screwing into the housing on the Gopro. Not a big deal but seems they could have done something to attah it better. It falls off easily. There also isn't enough room to put the finger latch on the outside this screw down if you have the hand strap attached to it unless you have the hand strap in exactly the right place ( a little gap running through the middle of the screw). Again not a big issue, just an observation. Overall this is one of the best metal frames that I found for the GoPro.
Exactly What I Needed For My GoPro 5 In Order to Attach My Mic, Light or Phone.

The media could not be loaded. The GoPro 5 is pretty awesome right out of the box. When it comes to recording action, conveniently, you would be hard pressed to find a similar solution at the same price point. But if you want to get the most out of your GoPro, you need to add some accessories.
I do a lot of video blogging as well as making tutorials for my clients. The video is important but I feel that the audio is even more crucial for those 2 applications. After all, without good sound, my information basically gets lost and my videos become annoying. So I needed to add a good microphone to my GoPro 5 setup.
When I am recording and have the GoPro camera lens facing me, I cannot tell where the camera is actually positioned. At times, I have wasted valuable video segments because I wasn't capturing what I thought I was capturing. The GoPro comes with an App that connects via WiFi. I am able to use my phone as a viewfinder, as I record with the GoPro.
In order to attach these important accessories, I needed a case that would let me access the GoPro ports so that I can attach the Microphone. I also needed another shoe to attach either a light, my phone or the microphone. I searched Amazon and returned 2 previous cases before I found this one that actually worked for my needs.
This case is well built, ports are easily accessible and it comes with a shoe that you can attach to the top. There is a retention screw on the side that is used to keep the GoPro in place. The plastic at the end of the screw works well, but only when in its proper position. If you over-tighten the screw, the plastic piece will dislodge and you can risk damaging your GoPro. Do not over-tighten the screw and always make sure that plastic piece is in place before you put your GoPro inside the housing.
This housing is definitely working well for me and I hope that it will for you.
