Do your research first

I absolutely love this coat, but before you buy it, do you research about this coat's capabilities and limitations. This is my 2x buying this coat. The only reason I'm replacing it after 3 years is because I gained weight and needed a bigger size. 😊 My original coat still looks brand new and I wore it a ton over the span of 3 years.

-Consider what this jacket will be used for, as this jacket is limited in its warmth. If you need a coat for under 32 degrees, this is not the jacket for you - even with layers. However, you live somewhere with a mostly mild winter, like Portland, this is a great winter coat. I live it Boise, and I cannot wear this jacket when it gets colder than 32 degrees. I use this jacket in the late fall, early spring, and the occasional warmer winter day. I would guess this jacket mimics a 500 fill jacket at best. I use this coat when it's too warm for my 700 fill down coat. I like having options.
-This jacket is very, very durable. Compared to many down jackets, I'm not afraid of it snagging on every little thing. This jacket doesn't hinder mobility. It's easy to drive in, and is super light. It takes up little room in closets and suitcases. It's easy to clean.
-Jacket runs a little small. I am a size 8 in dresses and the medium fits OK. It's a little more snug around the hips than I would normally prefer. I've read the Columbia Heavenly is more forgiving for pear-shaped figures.
-Jacket is water repellent, not water proof. I like wearing this jacket on damp, cool days. You may want to consider a waterproof shell if you live in a wet climate.
-The omni-heat technology is nice - but be patient. The jacket will warm up as you move. Keep that in consideration.
-The hood doesn't stay on well. This is my only qualm about this coat, thus 4/5 stars.

I love this jacket. It isn't a coat for harsh winters, but it's great for your 32-50 degree range. I hope this model never discontinues.

The jacket was too lightweight for my needs
Nice coat.

At 5'4", 120 lbs. a medium is a good fit. Wore it last night, 33 degrees, and was warm with just a light sweater underneath. Columbia never disappoints.
The BEST coat I've ever had

Should I say "second best coat I've ever had" since I've purchased it twice?!?
This coat is long enough to cover my thighs, so there is some added warmth there. (I'm 5'3".) It is incredibly lightweight, but the warmest coat I've ever owned. The "Omni Heat" feature uses the heat your body generates to keep you warm - even without layering! In fact, I think I'm warmer when I don't layer. I wear it out walking my Siberian Huskies in the frigid Kansas Winters -- terrible winds and temps well below freezing. Windchills below zero. It has inner cuffs at the wrists to help lock out the wind, a nice, substantial zipper, and a hood that actually stays up! I did buy it twice - I like it that much! I wish Columbia would make gloves like this, then I'd be all set!
Exceeded my expectations, great light jacket for 50F+ weather

This review is for Wild Iris, light purple jacket.
The coat is exactly what it claims to be "Mighty Lite". This coat was not made for cold winter, unless you live in a very mild climate. I wear it when the temps outside are above 50 with warm sweater underneath - only because I like to keep myself warm. I would never wear this jacket during the cold winter months simply because it was never made for the cold winter weather.
I'm truly shocked that so many reviewers gave this jacket only one star 1* claiming it did not keep them warm instead of admitting they failed to do the research. This is how functional illiteracy looks like.
Go click on Columbia store link right here on Amazon and you'll see that Columbia makes winter coats that are actually meant to be worn during the cold winter moths in the cold climate.

I love the Wild Iris color so much that I just purchased a second jacket in the same color. It's the most beautiful light purple that makes me look much younger than I actually am :-) Yes, it it somewhat narrow in the hips, but because I wear it only during the spring and autumn months and do not even zip it so it is not a problem for me personally. It is actually very slimming.
