I got a size 12 for my tallish boy who just turned 11. He is an average build and one of the taller boys in his fifth-grade class. I think the pants are just a little short. They are fine right now, but if he keeps growing like he has been they will be too short within 6 months for sure. The shirt fits really well.

for seven year old i took a size 8 mentioned. i expected it too be little big but rather its little tight. however it would be great to have a 10 as well. after 8 i see 12.

These thermals fit pretty true to size, but for us it has given my child extra length that we may be able to use next year as well. I originally bought these thinking they were fleece lined and they are not, but there are sets that are fleece lined. Customer service was excellent and helped me to get the fleece set that I had intended to buy.
