I HAD a vole problem.

This seemed to take care of the voles and no harm has come to the neighborhood cats.
Works well with systematic search for burrows
Joe McCarthy✓ Verified PurchaseFebruary 9, 2024
Our yard was riddled with vole tunnels, both in the lawn and in the berms. We bought some VoleX and tried putting some in the tunnels, but did not see much impact. After doing more research, I learned that doing a systematic search to identify the burrows, and using whatever eradication method one has selected in or near the burrows, yields better results. It took a while to find all the burrows, but within a week after I started putting a few pellets into each of the burrows themselves, the tunneling diminished. The tunneling did not stop, and so I kept searching, and inserting pellets, and after another week, the tunneling stopped. I've uploaded a few photos of some of the burrows I found in case it helps others do a systematic search in their yards.
Works with right technique

I had used two other, less safe for pets, mouse baits, pushed deep down into the most pesky/active vole hole near our house, with big rock over the hole, but every day the vole just tunneled around it or a few weeks. Then I tried a peanut butter baited mouse trap under a big pail with rock on the pail. For 3 days the trap would be sprung with no vole. Then the VoleX arrived. Also a friend told me voles don't like to dig through coarse small gravel. So, I used a teaspoon of VoleX pushed way down the hole with a small wood dowel on a dry day, with a little bit of moss (dry leaves or grass would work also) over it to protect from dirt and gravel. Then a little soil, a little coarse gravel packed over the soil, and covered in more soil. SUCCESS! It has been 2 weeks now, and that vole has not re-emerged. Did the same on a few other very active obvious vole holes a little further away in our yard; those have not re-emerged either. I like that I don't have to worry about my dog, or a neighbor's cat that frequents our yard, getting poisoned (or the hawks and owls that are around). Several years ago our yard got overrun with voles. Am hoping to prevent that. Now am working on some vole holes on our property further away from our house. The VoleX still seems to be working.(But please note that I doubt it would work to just spread around on the top of the soil. Also, grey squirrels and pets could eat enough to affect them if you did that; also VoleX is not supposed to get wet).
Not sure if it even works

I've had a Vole issue for months and followed the directions when applying this product. It's been two weeks and still Vole activity. I'm going to keep applying it as directed and hope it eventually kills the Voles destroying my yard.
Think it’s working?

So hard to tell whether this is working or not? Where I live there's voles everywhere and none of my neighbors do a thing about the voles in their property. Naturally the voles eventually end up on my property too! I think it's maybe killed a mole here or there? Least it seems the vole mounds in my garden are less or least seem to see little signs of the mounds every so often? Then I got vole mounds again in the garden when I think I got rid of them? Why I say it's hard to know for sure if it's helping or not? As I understand how it works it doesn't kill moles/voles immediately, it makes them dehydrated where they can't get enough water and eventually die.
It's a little time consuming and annoying to have to weigh out 5oz at a time and wrap it in clear plastic wrap in a ball basically and put that in the ground so that rain water doesn't ruin this product before the moles/voles eat it. But if it works I suppose it's worth the effort? I won't say anything more negative about the product other then having to measure it out and ball it up in plastic. Although if your sure it's not going to rain or need to water a area for a couple weeks or more? Then you might be able to delete wrapping with plastic wrap? I tried mole traps and only had some tiny success with those too! These underground creatures can drive you insane trying to get rid of them. But if your patient this product may actually work eventually given enough time for the moles/voles to keep eating it enough to eventually die off! I sure hope so anyway?
