Understand the Limits (Heat Output)
Ken✓ Verified Purchase•September 5, 2023
If you order this, you need to understand limits of heat output. In a typical residential circuit of 15-amps, this is the most power you can have without tripping your circuit breaker. If it doesn't provide enough heat, you need a 240-V hard-wired, dedicated circuit, installed by licensed electrician. Or switch to a different fuel source (e.g. propane).
I live in Florida. My patio is covered and open on two-sides. I wanted the heater to extend the "outside" season and to sit outside comfortably in December and January. Typical lows of 40's F to 50's F. This heater meets this need, just barely.
The heater is directional, and there is room for perhaps three (3) people to sit in front of it without being too cozy.
Understand the limits of what this heater can do. So far, as long as I ask it to operate within those limits, it works for me. Now then, as to durability and length of service, I will have to update later.

The media could not be loaded. I was looking for a personal heater to use on my outdoor patio in the fall months here in Western NY. I contemplated a natural gas powered patio heater but liked the simplicity of an electric unit feeling that it would be adequate for my needs. So I purchased this electric heater.
Upon opening the box I was quite surprised at how solid the tripod is - heavy aluminum and sturdy. The instructions weren't the best, but it was still easy to put together. The heat output is what you should expect from 1500 watts - the maximum for regular household current. It's not going to heat a large area, but it will warm those within the lamp's shadow. (We're talking 5100 BTUs as compared to a 48000 BTU natural gas patio heater.)
I like the simplicity of this heater. There's a single switch rather than a remote control, and one setting: "on" which unleashes the full 1500 watts.
I'm using it to sit under while I work outside. It's positioned to my left while I have a quartz tower heater on the table to my right. Sitting between them (they both run on the same outlet with no problem) gives me a warm bubble of Miami within the cold confines of Rochester.

We got this product to deal with our daughters travel softball games which on the book ends of the seasons can get pretty darn cold. Had over four adults hovering around this thing everybody kept warm. Truly awesome and a great price. Bought another one to put on our outdoor patio and can keep you completely warm outside. The only thing is the knob to hold the pitch of the heating element does not hold too well end it ends up eventually sagging towards the floor in the tripod. The tripod however is very sturdy. They really need to put some kind of locking device even if it's 3 settings like pointing up - neutral - or pointing down. Other than that great product

I wish I would have read the description thoroughly before buying. This unit only has an on/off switch. There is no other heating setting other than on or off. It also does not have an emergency or timer shut off. Therefore, if you accidently leave it or or it tips over, the heat will just stay on. That said, the unit looks great and it is functional on the patio. We use it on our patio and we are able to enjoy drinks around it outside when it's cool (Arizona cool) out in the winter months. Next time, I would purchase a unit that has more features such as an automatic shut off just to be safe. I am keeping the unit because it's does the trick.
