Better than 2 others, and decent for streaming music. Loud!

I purchased 3 different 40W to 50W claimed boomboxes.
I got the Bugani, the angular looking with black and orange accents.
The WKing
And this Alpatronix model.

All 3 sound different! The W-King sounded the most tinny and "non-live" out of the 3. The Bugani sounded pretty good, and I think did sound best. The Alpatronix sounded better than the W-King although they almost look identical. If you look close you will see different speakers, which give a warmer "live" sound.

None of these sounded fantastic or anything, and the EQ, you cant even tell what its on helps a bit, but you cant really use it knowing what is happening, as by the time you change and listen enough, you are done with the song, and no way to know what you cycled. All 3 do this BS EQ. It makes a sound difference, but it could have had a indication of what you like in general vs maybe vocals, etc.

Another annoying thing is all these units have the Volume AND the skip control in one button, and even when you get used to it, you can inadvertently skip the song and need to go back, and its just lame not to have a jog dail volume control, no excuse but cheap electronics board design.

So Pro Con list, and why I returned the Bugani...
The handle I though could fold down. It DOESN'T, so that will eventually get crammed or broken, or just be in the way. No shoulder strap like the others, and the others are more compact, partly due to the handle free design.
I general Bugani is less "on the go" than the other design. Although aesthetically nicer than a black plastic tube with some aluminium grill and lame logo slapped on. The light indications on the Alpatronix design is easier to see, while Bugani has LED indicators behind the grill. No bueno.
All 3 crank plenty sound, but the Bugani suffers sooner.
What I also found important is how well they sound at low settings.

So between the 2 twins, what are the differences...??
The speakers are different, AND the Alpatronix has a SD Slot, AND USB-C charging!!!
AND its $20 less!, AND sounds better! IMO

The others have standard USB charging and no card slot.

So while neither of these have a high fidelity open and comfortable sound processing to them, they still sound decent, and add a lot of sound to a room, or at the pool side.
For under 70, its not a bad deal at all. I don't see a point in spending more than 50-75 on portable sound that is just background music. For real sound, you can get great headphones, or a great car system, or home system.
But for Bluetooth streaming sound, its fine.
Great sound and durability for the price

This speaker goes with me on my work route every single day. I use it for listening to music, taking phone calls, and I don't have to worry about its battery running out on an average day in the truck.
great sound quality

I bought this speaker to take on vacation so we could listen to music in the room. The sound was quite agreeable, listening mostly to classical music. Back home, I hardwired the speaker to an Echo Dot in the bedroom and it sounded good enough that I bought a second one to make a stereo pair. I asked Alpatronix for advice on connecting the second speaker and they quickly answered that I should switch to Bluetooth for that. I did some listening tests, comparing these speakers to Swans D1080-IV, both using Amazon Music on Echo Dot as a source. This is as close as I can come to apples-to-apples - the price is about the same but the Swans are hardwired and not portable.

I haven't run this comparison on a wide range of music yet. Playing the remastered In-a-Gadda-da-Vida, the pair of Alpatronix speakers sounds pretty good, though I can drive them into audible distortion in a large room. In contrast, Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis sounded muddy. I changed back to a hardwired connection between the Echo Dot and a single Alpatronix, which improved the sound. Neither the Echo nor the Alpatronix speakers supports APT-X and I seem to be sensitive to compression artifacts, whether Bluetooth or MP3.

I succeeded in hardwiring the Echo to two Alpatronix by converting from stereo 3.5 mm jack to RCA and then to mono 3.5 mm. I had to fiddle with the setup to eliminate noise from the power supplies but the resulting stereo is quite good. This arrangement uses only one channel from each speaker. It would be possible to feed the same signal to both channels, which would increase the output by 3 dB but might create a rather spiky dispersion pattern because the two tweeters would interfere.

This would make a decent computer speaker when you're home. Though if you can afford $359, the Vanatoo Transparent Zero has very much better sound.

This speaker is a good choice at the price point. W-King has a clone that costs about the same but Alpatronix product support is an advantage. For about $100, you might consider Anker Soundcore Motion+ or Motion Boom. That's about as much as I would pay for a Bluetooth speaker, portable or not.

Update. The connection using RCA to 3.5 mm mono at the speaker was noisy, so I switched to adapters from 3.5 mm stereo to RCA, connecting the left channel sound to the left channel of the left Alptronix and mirrored that on the right, leaving the unused inputs floating. This got rid of the noise but still had poor stereo imaging. It occurred to me that having the woofer and tweeter side by side might create interference in the horizontal plane so I stood the speakers on end (active channel at the top). This gave good stereo imaging! Also, now the speakers are getting broken in, they sound better though they lack bass and have noticeable distortion at high levels (more likely the drivers than the amplifiers). So they could be dual purpose - you might have a pair of these standing on end for computer speakers and unplug them to play music outdoors. I'm going to stick with my four-star rating; good performance for the price.
Better Than Expected Bluetooth Speaker

Physical - The speaker has a solid construction and heft feeling substantial in the hand but not heavy. It feels like it would hold together if dropped although I did not intentionally test it. The strap is effective for carrying. I won't personally sling it over my shoulder and carry it as a boom box but if you do understand that the strap is not long. The buttons are large and easy to read which is a lot different from other bluetooth speakers I have used in the past. The speaker is rated for IPX5 which means it is not rated for dust but is rated to survive short exposure to water jets which is perfect for outdoors unless you drop it in water or leave it in the rain for an extended period. Overall it is excellent construction.

Power - The speaker comes with a USB C cable but no charger. The power meter LED's are a nice addition helping prevent a surprise low battery. I have not timed a full charge to discharge but it is advertised at 40 hours. You have the option of using the speaker battery to charge your mobile device. This is a handy option especially if you are streaming music from your mobile device. Of course this will reduce your play time. Overall this has an excellent battery that will outlast your stamina to listen.

Bluetooth - The speaker paired very quickly with my Amazon Echo device and Avantree Bluetooth transmitter. It maintained a solid connection up to ~55 feet which aligns with the stated distance of 60 feet. The speaker is NOT advertised to have APTx compatibility for low latency bluetooth communication which would allow it to be used as a TV speaker. When connected to the avantree/TV with aptx there was noticeable delay with the sound not synced confirming that it is not APTx compatible. Overall it connected quickly and performed to the advertised distance.

Sound Quality - Sound quality was good in the base equalizer mode but felt 'empty' without it. You can't expect audiophile quality from a single bluetooth speaker. Since I only have the 1 speaker I cannot comment on the sound quality improvement from using it in the stereo mode. I played Magic Mike 'Drop that Bass' and at maximum volume there was no distortion from the bass. Overall it was very good for an inexpensive bluetooth speaker.

Improvement Recommendations
+ A dedicated bluetooth pairing button would make it easier to use without having to remember to hold the plus and minus buttons at the same time.
+ Labeling for the LED's would provide benefit instead of trying to remember what each one means.
+ I experienced pairing issues when switching from the avantree back to the echo. I had to turn off the avantree before the echo would pair correctly.
+ Adding APTx would make this a more versatile bluetooth speaker.
+ Adding a USB charger to the product would make sense to prevent the consumer from having to find a charger with the appropriate AMP rating.
+ Improving the IP rating to IPX6 would allow the consumer to feel confident taking it on a boat or using it poolside without worrying about it accidently dropping into the water.
