This ergo kneeling chair was easy to put together. Those who are saying the instructions aren't clear have never been to Ikea. Separate the hardware into neat piles, look at the illustrations carefully to make sure the pieces are facing the right way, then use the included hex wrench to install and tighten the bolts. I assembled mine in less than 30 minutes.

For those who complain about their knees hurting from using it--don't put pressure on your knees. Extend them over the front of the pad with your shins resting on the front pad. Most of the weight should be on your butt anyway. Your legs are on the kneeling pad as a source of rest, not as the main support.

Also, it's not intended to sit in any work chair for hours at a time without getting up. This chair is no different. Get up every now and then to stretch and move around. Change positions--put one foot on the floor in front for a few minutes, then switch legs. Put both feet up on the pad and sit like a pill bug. The main thing is to find a balance with your torso and hips so you don't slouch forward. The weight is being distributed evenly across your lower back and legs. But don't expect to sit in it for hours without experiencing discomfort. That's going to happen with any kneeling chair if you're in the same position for an extended period of time.

This is a great chair to change things up and be in a different position when I do any kind of work--at my desk, reading, sewing, whatever. The important take away is that it doesn't replace the chair I already have--I think of it as a supplement that provides an ergonomic advantage when my body needs a break.
Great entry level kneeling chair

It was pretty easy to put together despite the instructions lacking a bit. Personally would have appreciated color coded screws, or at least separate marked baggies for the screws to make it easier to assemble, but overall that is just a small complaint. I've put together a lot of Ikea type furniture so this was about on par with those.

I agree with others, this chair has a smell. I'm hoping it fades soon, as it's making my office smell and the most similar scent I can think of at the moment is latex paint? it's pretty strong and definitely doesn't smell like leather so I doubt the claims that it is genuine leather.

I took off one star as there are no instructions for adjusting for height, I'm pretty short (5'2) but I can't seem to get the height adjusted correctly. The metal bar in the center supposedly adjusts, but I haven't been able to get it to even sort of budge, so I've been playing around with the bottom bar where you have 3 different holes to choose from, but none of them seem to be 'just right' for me.

Currently happy with my purchase, but due to its price and the smell and lack of a guide for adjusting seat height and how to 'properly' position yourself and the chair (I researched this online to figure it out), I took down one star. I recommend it to anyone looking to get away from the traditional chair due to back issues, but doesn't want to sit on a giant ball while at work. This at least looks like it belongs in an office.
Love this chair!

I've had this chair for a little over a year now and it is a life changer!

Some information about me: I am 30 years old, 5ft 7inches tall with long legs and 130lbs. I workout and stretch daily, but I sit for long hours in my studio making jewelry and art, like 40-60 hours a week. Before I got this chair, I used a basic upright office chair on wheels from IKEA and was experiencing some pretty bad back problems. It was especially noticeable when I would bend over to pick things up or when I would wake up in the morning and I thought it was my mattress at first.

I do have to say that it is not the easiest chair to get in and out of, or to pick things up off the floor that you drop. I've gotten pretty agile with it over the last year, but if you are not a little fit, mobile, or have trouble moving around, it probably wouldn't be a great chair. However, I wouldn't trade it for the world and will be using one for a long as I am able!

To address my back problems, I decided to try to cheapest route first and got this chair before I wanted to buy a whole new mattress, and I'm so happy I did. I noticed WAY less back pain in just a couple days of use. It has nice cushioning that has lasted. There is no fraying or tearing of the cushions or seams. The material is very easy to clean with a damp cloth.

And one little extra tidbit...I keep an upright chair in my room for a couple of tasks and I had to sit in it for a few hours the other day and my joints hurt so badly afterwards, it was insane! I moved back to the kneeling chair and the relief was very noticeable!
Docked a star because the cushion is too soft, but it's as advertised

I think the cushion could be firmer, so I don't feel the base of it as much, and maybe if it could go lower that'd be great, I can't really say it relieves pain, at least it hasn't for me, but I like having it as an option and how I feel a bit less like when I do if I sit on a chair all day
Mostly good, and I plan on using it, but there's a couple things that I'm not a huge fan of.

So this chair is mostly good. It's very easy to put together, it feels and has been very sturdy so far, and it does what it's supposed to do by tilting my pelvis forward without me having to think about it much.

Unless you have a very hard time following basic instructions or you have a disability that makes using your hands difficult, I wouldn't believe the reviews that say this is hard to put together. I also have a hard time believing that shorter people don't fit on the seat unless leg thickness is the issue.

A lot of people complain about back pain, but I'm pretty sure that's because their backs are already bad, their core is pretty weak, or they are simply not listening to their bodies and sitting in the chair for too long. I can feel my back muscles working, but I wouldn't say it hurts. What got me to get this chair was tight hip flexors and a slipped disc. The slipped disc has actually been helped by this in my case because it doesn't allow me to slouch as easily.

Couple things that aren't great for me as just a personal preference.

- The foam in the padding is not the greatest. Doesn't really cradle my shins very well. I kind of just dig into it and I can feel the hard board on the other side of the foam after sitting for ~10-15 minutes. Maybe It's just because shins are right underneath the skin without much help from muscle or fat, but it's still my least favorite part of the chair. I think I wish the foam was a little more dense or had a more gradual change in density as you sunk into it.

- I've only had it for a couple weeks, so this is just based on speculation and/or what I've dealt with before with similar material, but it feels like the type of foam that is going to start wearing down after a few months. I wouldn't be surprised if it lost it's form.

- I'm 6'1, 190 lbs. I do fit on the seat, but only barely. To sit where's most comfortable (for me), my butt is on the back of the seat. There's 3 different levels you can set the knee pad which changes the angle and weight displacement, there's obviously an adjustment to the angle of the seat, and I can also move my shins up or down on the pad to allow myself to slide down further, but I haven't found a combination that is both comfortable for me and also keeps the purpose of the chair me me (combating anterior pelvic tilt and helping to lengthen hip flexors).

Overall it's good. Not meant to be used all day, every day, so I switch between that and my normal desk chair at work over the course of the day. When my shins start to hurt I'll move to my regular chair, and when I feel like my posture is getting bad, I'll get back into this chair. Experiences will likely vary based on your height, weight, and length of your legs.
