I used this for car camping, and I made it work, but did need extra padding underneath. I ended up layering a yoga mat, as well as a slightly thicker foam workout mat underneath (approx 1in thick). With the three of these I could sleep quite comfortably, but if it was just this mattress pad, I could very easily feel the floor beneath me. I am around 140lbs, so thought the mattress would support me slightly more.

Once aired out completely, which I think 2 days would be good amount of time, it is comfortable. It does not beat a bed, but it beats a hard floor or inflated sleeping pad. As an extra bed at home, this beats sleeping on my Exped sleeping pad. However, it does take up a lot of space. Fully worth it. Have not tried other brands.

I'm impressed by this. Leaving on a 9 week camping course had me apprehensive to use one of my backpacking minimalist pads. So I tried this and damn! I'm as comfortable on this as I was at home. It hides most imperfections in the natural floor called earth. It's big enough for me to move around on. My tent has leaked water twice and my mattress resisted much more water than I was expecting. I used a microfiber to suck out the moisture and hung it to dry and it was good to go that same day. The best mattress pad for long stay camping.
