Runs narrow
Welsh Guy✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 12, 2023
I usually need a 2E sizing for my training shoes and these were advertised as a wider toe-box so I thought they would work. Unfortunately I was wrong. The upper is a single piece of stretchy material that doesn't give enough and the soles are definitely too narrow for my feet.

So if you have wider feet these shoes will likely not work for you. The MFR needs to provide 2E and 4E sizing options too.
Leg Day Staple
Jaclyn Souza✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 20, 2023
I bought these to use strictly in the gym during leg day splits because running shoes are not ideal for stability when lifting heavy. So far so good; I can definitely feel the difference in ground contact and it's much safer than lifting in only my socks. I use custom orthotics and they fit perfectly in the shoe.

My only qualm with this shoe is that the toe box is more narrow than I expected, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. Other reviews had mentioned that so even though I measured my feet according to their sizing chart, I heeded the other warnings. I usually wear a men's 10.5 wide because I have long bony feet and don't like the toe box sides rubbing the bones of my feet. As a woman with large feet, I've grown accustomed to wearing men's athletic shoes because finding larger women's sizes is almost impossible. Because there's no 10.5, I decided to size up to their size 11 and I'm so thankful I did. The 11 fits how my everyday Asics Kayanos 10.5 extra wide fit my feet. So if you've got larger or wider feet, I'd recommend sizing up because even with the size up, there's only about a half inch from the tip of my big toe to the top of the shoe.
Less is More

Many moons ago I tried out 5-fingers toe shoes. I didn't care for them overall. The Whiten's are different in that regard. I use them at the gym and casual use. I do NOT use them for running, preferring dedicated running shoes. In the gym I like the feel they provide and my foot feels more natural, particularly when it comes to performing balancing or leg exercises. I use elastic laces so they're on and off in a jiffy. I have mostly flat feet, and while there is no arch support in the shoe, I'm not concerned about injuries. But as I said, I don't use these for running. I use carbon plate running shoes for trainers and in races. I like these trainers so much I ordered a second pair. I also found them awesome as a driving shoe, particularly if you'd trying to use heel/toe technique when downshifting a manual transmission. A note of caution if you use these daily however is the lack of upper foot protection. If anything heavy drops on the top of your foot there is no cushioning. For this reason, I don't wear them in the workshop or anywhere around machinery. I can't speak to durability, but for $40 who cares? They do seem well made with no sign of delaminating yet.
New to barefoot shoes

These shoes have a decent toe box size but the mid foot of the shoe is a slightly tight fit. I'm new to barefoot shoes so take this with a grain of salt. However, I bought the Whitin Canvas Sneaker which feel like they accommodate a wider mid foot and feel better to walk in. These Trail Running Shoes have flexible fabric so the feet do not feel too cramped but may not be the best option for those who have a wider mid-foot. Otherwise, I feel like these would be a good option for those with a narrower mid-foot.
Excellent leisure shoe NOT cross-trainer, runs a half size small
Zeus Yiamouyiannis, Ph.D.✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 1, 2023
Bought the wide toe-box trail shoe from the same company and it fit perfectly at size 12 or 45 cm. This one runs small, especially if you have wider feet, so you may have to size up a half size. The 12 1/2 or 46 cm fit me perfectly after the return and exchange. This is a VERY comfortable shoe, but is not really built for the support and rugged use of the trail shoe. I walked 7 miles in these "cross trainers" (really athletic leisure shoe) in a mix of trail and street, and my back could feel it, unlike the trail shoe which has adequate support and no problems with my back. These would function better to play croquet than engage in serious sport.
