Finally, An Affordable A Clarinet

Although I love the professional A clarinet that I've used for many years for chamber music and orchestral playing, I have also been using it in a string-based Americana group for the past several years. That has posed a problem, given the outdoor venues at which we frequently play in the spring, summer, and fall. I've been looking for a non-wooden, relatively inexpensive A clarinet for some time and finally came upon this one. Aside from some intonation issues, a tone that is not as good as that of an intermediate or professional wooden clarinet, and metal that's too easy to bend, I don't see how you could beat this for the price. Thanks to Yinfente for making a truly affordable A clarinet. I also have one of their C clarinets, as that's another one of those odd clarinets that in the past have only been available easily for over $1,000, and that one is quite good for the money, too.
A bargain and it actually works

Decent sound for an inexpensive instrument. The mouthpiece works, but is not the best. Throw the reed away. The ligature barely works. I use a Hemke soprano sax reed and it works great. The Bb clarinet reed needs to be cut down - it's good in the lower register but not the upper register. The C# key was not adjusted properly, but the others worked OK. This is not an instrument to be used in performances, but is fun to play. Intonation is not perfect, but OK.
Wonderful! C clarinet is cute & fun to play!

I have several Yinfente instruments now. And I am loving the bargain, and quality. I purchased these to enjoy the tonal quality of rosewood instruments at an affordable price. The craftsmanship is good. More like a handmade instrument in that the parts are standard stock. But they do take time to send a fully adjusted instrument! Fantastic bang-for-the-buck! As you see, I did do it again...

This C Clarinet is such a wonderful find! Rare to see these. But with the introduction of the Clarinéo (by Nuvo), this may get a comeback! I purchased this to demonstrate on a clarinet key system that works with my Bb clarinet and C Clarinéo students. I demo all of them during class. But to give the Clarinéo kids an opportunity to play a clarinet without buying new books!!! And for the Bb clarinet kids to not get confused about the different keywork. Win-win!

And who doesn't want a baby clarinet? Only the Eb clarinet is tinier. ☺ï¸

It's sound wonderful. It's not wood, some kind of composite of plastic with a finish that looks like wood. I compared my best mouthpiece and ligature set up with it. Definitely sound better with my nice setup! I took another reviewers advice and got a cheap Palatino mouthpiece and Rovner ligature. And that sound more tolerable than the stock mouthpiece. Stock ligature was useless. Just slips up and off.

My thoughts, use your good Bb clarinet mouthpiece and ligature set. And barrel too. The timbre changes a lot. Nicer. The cheap Palatino works well enough. Very fun to play! Keys are all
Comfortable to reach. It does have a bit of a brighter sound than the Bb clarinet. Seem less
Transition for kids who began on Clarinéo and ready to step up to a full clarinet.
High-Quality C-Key Clarinet at a Low Price

Because I have purchased two Yinfente clarinets from different vendors at different times, I feel I can assess the quality, tuning, and playing characteristics of these instruments--especially the C clarinet, which arrived from Amazon yesterday. Unlike the common B-flat clarinet, a C-key clarinet is comparatively uncommon and very expensive on average ($1,500-4,000 USD for a Buffet Crampon C clarinet). The Yinfente C-key clarinet, like the B-flat Yinfente, can be purchased through Amazon for less than $200 including a hard case, reed, and other accessories. Unlike top-brand Grenadilla wood clarinets, which are affected by temperature and humidity, the Yinfente is made from an Ebonite compound which is impervious to weather conditions and should stay in tune whether played indoors or outdoors. The well-padded and well-made leatherette carrying case will keep the instrument safe whenever transported. The mouthpiece and plated metal ligature that come with Yinfente clarinets are probably adequate (I haven't tried them because I'm accustomed to Hite mouthpieces and Rovner ligatures) but any mouthpiece that fits a B-flat clarinet will also fit this C clarinet. The overall quality of this clarinet--the tone holes, the pads and springs, the double-plated keys and posts, and the two barrels supplied with the Yinfente--would be exceptional even in a much more expensive brand. Finding this quality and precision in a C clarinet for such a low price as a Yinfente clarinet has been a very pleasant surprise.
