The padding isn't thick enough to protect from concrete unfortunately, and the rubber that holds the sleeve in place digs into the skin and causes itching/burning.

I stand on ladders daily and the ladder rung is inconveniently right above my knee, where I generally balance and support all my upper body weight. My thighs right above my knees are always bruised and sore. These sleeves are stretchy enough to go all the way up my thigh so the padding sets right above my knee. The padding is pretty flexible and surprisingly thick. The sleeves stay on great and don't slip at all, plus they aren't hot, just the opposite actually. Might invest in the padded sleeves to protect my shins, thighs and knees, but for right now, these will do!
