I bought this case to replace the original case that came with my daughter's flute. This case has a zipper instead of those unreliable clasps. Plus there is a zippered pocket to hold a cleaning cloth/pipe.

I have an 11 year old, who has been playing just over a year....even though quite responsible for her age - she is 11 and her instrument case does take a bit of a beating, in backpacks, lockers, and the like. Instrument was handed down by a cousin, in a case that was very worn, so this is actually her second replacement case - and the design of this case, solves for every issue we've had with the other two.
Padding/lining is very soft & plush, and holds my daughter's flute (C foot Jupiter) securely. This case has a zipper closure, so no hinges to snag, catch or break. The handle is fabric - flexible and sewn to the case, so again little to no opportunity for breakage.....also includes a shoulder strap, with eliminates the need to stuff the case in a backpack altogether.
I originally dismissed this style of case, thinking it impractical for a child - very pleased with the purchase, and wish I had gone this route sooner.
