This kit is perfect for everything from small soldering jobs for metalsmithing to also turning into a soldering iron for electronics. It's not that big, the attachments are actually really easy to swap out. When I first read the instructions it seemed complicated because the instructions are very detailed, but then I realized it was actually very simple to do. The flame control is excellent as well, and the instructions were really well-written. It seems like a very sturdy but small torch. I mostly got it for all of the attachments and the flame control, I'm a goldsmith so sometimes a need a very small flame to do tiny pieces. It's really lightweight, and the safety lever is very easy to operate unlike some torches, you can literally flip the safety off with your thumb as you light the torch. It's light weight and very versatile. I had my eye on this for awhile before I bought it, and I'm really glad I did! Here's hoping to many fruitful years of soldering with this thing!

I have to agree with all of the other reviews on this product. It is awesome. It works great, heats up quick and has the multitude of tips beyond just a soldering iron tip. This is has been a game changer for me on a GoKart build because I can easily swap from soldering wiring, melting/cutting braided wire covers and heat shrinking all with one tool. Also no cords getting in the way.

It can be a little longer than some soldering irons but I believe the portability and maneuverability make it superior over a plugged in model.

It heats up quick and cools down quick so I can make tool changes pretty quickly in between heating. The safety is a little annoying I feel, but aren't they usually?

Very impressed for what it is and what the cost was.

My previous butane soldering iron (not this brand) bit the dust a few weeks ago and I tried this one as a replacement.

Some background: I am a ham radio operator and I frequently work on various sorts of electronic projects, so I'm no stranger to soldering.

The iron itself is larger than I expected and alot of it's girth is from the large butane tank. This can hold alot of fuel. The included tips are a great starter set, but I would get some spares of the ones you frequently use.
Due to it's size, I would not recommend this for doing any type of delicate work (don't even attempt to work on Surface Mount Devices unless you have a real steady hand).

The ignition is handled by a spark gap system and seems to work well. It heats up very fast.

It does have a safety on the ignition to "child-proof" it which seems to work as it took me a minute to figure it out.

The instructions indicate to use butane that has been refined at least 3 times. As I was in a hurry to use this, I just used the common Ronson butane (used in lighters) and it seems to work OK. I will pick up some better butane in the future - it should burn smoother.

Awesome Quality and easy to use , plus the case it comes in is durable and organized.

The torch came on on the first attempt and heated the solder effectively.The kit is first rate and an excellent buy.
