The plastic locking mechanism doesn't look particularly robust, but I used this in Aruba's natural pool without any issues. The phone seemed more sensitive in the pouch so I had some unintentional selfies and videos, and they were actually interesting to see. I'll be relying on this for the rest of my 2023 trips for sure.

It's kinda difficult to test them without being very precise; I tried to test it but when I opened there were some drops inside and not sure if my fingers introduced them or not. I was too lazy to dry completely and try again with more stringent testing to fully confirm if it works or not loool but I did go kayaking recently and gave one to my friend and he flipped over in his kayak and said this pouch saved him cause it was floating in the water, else his phone might have been a goner, I thought wow it didn't get wet either, not even slightly? Apparently it didn't, his phone was still working. The only thing is it should be easier to understand how to wrap the rope holder thingy into it. Other than that, not totally sure, seems to work well so far, I should conduct some more tests though to make sure absolutely no water gets in, currently I'm assuming it's no more than a few drops, if anything

I shopped around and looked at waterproof cases for our smart phones. I couldn't justify paying $30 (on the cheap side) for a case (x4 for each family member). We only really need the security near the pool and not 24/7. Of course, the first day the pouches arrived, I put my iPhone 7, with current case and the extra round grip attached to case, right into the bag and went right outside and tested it. No water leaks and can still take pics and text. My son's iPhone XS, also with case and grip, fit inside his case also. We could hear our music through the case and the phone ringing, too. I had my camera up that first day and taking pictures seems to be more easily done with the side button. The camera does stay active and the screen doesn't go to sleep, most likely due to the pressure of the pouch touching the screen. I would highly recommend for anyone wanting to use this for temporary security of your phone from water. Of course, it isn't very practical to slip into your back pocket or some purses, unless you carry those huge suitcase-like purses..

These are an AMAZING deal! I saw these, individually packaged in stores for over $20 EACH! I tested them, as instructed on the package- success! I took them on vacation, using them in the pool and ocean for 7 days and my iPhone X stayed perfectly dry! Photo quality through the plastic was *almost as good- better than I expected. Very happy with this purchase!
Exceptions:
-This did not float with my device! Likely because the iPhone X is quite heavy. Disappointing but I kept the strap around my neck at all times anyway. There's an air chamber that surrounds the pouch that doesn't hold much air. Suggestion- If you don't plan to keep the string around your neck and there's risk for dropping/losing your phone in the water, add something to the base of the string that has enough buoyancy to hold the weight. Possibly something from a dive/surf/sport shop small, but strong enough to not be annoying and keep your phone afloat.
-As noted in the instructions, under-water use requires the side button to take pictures because the screen-touch doesn't work well under water... this was super annoying, mostly because the air chamber surrounding the sleeve makes the side-button on my iPhone hard to use.
