It's over-built for a 3-4 year old IMO, great for medium-build 5-7 year old, but ran small for my 8 year old (says 3-8 year old range).
Pros: It's sturdy. Built with good gearing for most flat roads. Has a break by kicking it in reverse, and it reverses. It's fast, grips well to street, has air-filled tires, and looks fantastic.

Cons: Not much. See my photo. I installed a 7 inch 1" rigid galvanized pipe and extended the seat out ~4 inches for my 8yr old. Con is, now the weight is shifted behind the back tires which makes the front wheels pop up a little. :(

Berg Toys Junior Buddy - White
This is the second Berg Junior Buddy we have purchased as a gift for a child within our family. My husband continues to be impressed with the quality and performance of this pedal go cart; he has assembled both vehicles after their delivery which occurred three years apart. He believes the engineering and performance of this toy's features are consistent with a safe breaking system, unobstructed visibility for the child driver, and accurate and responsive steering.
The Berg Junior Buddy unexpectedly attracts considerable public attention when first seen in motion. We didn't anticipate how fast, smoothly and quietly, this toy vehicle can be propelled by pedal power alone. It never fails, both children and adults approach and inquire: Is it motorized? Is it custom made? How fast can it go? Can I try it? Where do you get one? Grown men are especially interested in the engineering.
The children in our family wear safety helmets. My husband also mounts a Berg Safety Flag unit behind the driver's seat.. however, he is not satisfied with either the color (for optimum visibility) or the weight (wind sock flutter) .of the actual Berg Flag so he purchases a replacement flag.
On her birthday, our 3 year old grand niece seated herself in the "pink car" and within minutes announced, "I drive just like Mommy."
They have a large, flat driveway where we chalked a racing oval (with short cuts) on the surface for her to practice "revving her engine, braking on command and driving within her lane." It was truly amazing how skilled she quickly became maneuvering this pedal go cart, especially when compared to a tricycle, which is a tribute to the Berg design and quality manufacture.

It's a bit on the heavy side, but I'd prefer that over something that might fall apart in a year or two. My son is five and loves it. He rides it almost every day.

The cart looks great! No cheap plastic fru-fru. The transmission is awesome and works like a charm, the frame is well designed and made and quite stout while being easy enough to be taken down for moving the cart in your car to the park or storing it, and the inflatable tires are spot on even if the plastic wheels are not the best. My only real gripes are that only one rear wheel is driven and effected by the brake. The way this is made, it would have been easy to have a single rear axle linking both rear wheels so both would be driven and braked taking this car into the realm of greatness. My other gripe is that the seat (which is adequate if not particularly good) does not adjust far enough forward for my 4 year old (who it was bought for) to be able to reach the pedals well enough to power it (another inch and a half and it would work). The boy is not pleased with Santa this year. His 10 year old sister has driven it all over the neighborhood and loves it though, even if she looks funny with her knees sticking out to the side because it is too little for her.

We purchased this item a while ago, and it's still functioning flawlessly. When we took it out on the street, it caught the attention of passersby, both young and old, who were captivated by its appearance.
