I love KING CRAB! To me, it's one of the most perfect and heavenly foods, but lately I just haven't been getting the most succulent or best quality crab legs. I have a fairly good seafood store locally (that supplies restaurants), and their $32 per pound crab legs are okay, but they're skinny, and look more like snow crab on steroids.

These Crab legs are HUGE and full of meat! The 10 pound size arrived perfectly packed, loose and unwrapped in a styrofoam cooler with dry ice, and when you open the lid there's a little blast of arctic air. They're frozen solid with a coating of ice, and when you first see them, you'll probably wonder how they're going to fit into a standard refrigerator freezer. Some of the ones I received were over 2ft long, so I just took a cleaver and split them in half, wrapped them individually or in pairs with Press n Seal food wrap, and stored them in an oversized plastic freezer bag.

Usually I would defrost King Crab the proper way - 24 hours in the refrigerator, but after seeing these I was so eager to try them, and took out about 2 pounds (for 2 crab lovers), put them in a ziplock bag and defrosted them in ice water. I also tried a different method of cooking them. Instead of steaming them, I baked them at 375 degrees on a baking pan, for approx. 25 minutes, basting them in a garlic, butter, lemon sauce. OMG...you cannot believe how good these were! I felt funny not having a side dish, but there was no room, and we just had a FEAST of succulent, sweet, delicious Crab. Some of the BEST King Crab, I've ever had! Good thing is, I have about 8 pounds left to look forward too. YAY!

There was 1 little glitch with my order though, but it worked in my favor. I ordered on a Friday afternoon at about 2:20pm, and free delivery was scheduled for the following Wednesday. If you wanted it delivered on Tuesday it was an additional 14.95, and I selected that option. I received an email at 2:58pm advising me that my order had been shipped. WTH? That's going to be 4 days of shipping? Nope, I received the shipment, overnight delivery, on Saturday at about 10:30am! I was happy it was early, but it's just a good idea to check the tracking delivery date with the carrier, as ð˜¼ð'ˆð˜¼ð'•ð'Šð'‰ still had an arrival date of Tuesday. What if you're not going to be home if the order arrives early? Just a suggestion, as I'd hate for this beautiful seafood to go to waste.

Huge crab legs.

Hands down, the biggest crab legs I have ever seen. The shells are soft enough that you can tear them apart or use a tool to split them. Done right you'll pull out a piece of meat that's just too beautiful for words. They were very tasty although maybe not the sweetest I ever had they were still fantastIc. Not tough as I worried being so big. Biggest issue is trying to thaw/cook them and also store them. You'll need a big freezer if ur not eating within a day. They're not fitting in any pot in my house unless cut. As far as value, they're a splurge. The 10lb pack was half the cost of all other deals for some reason so in that respect I guess it was a value. It you want to really knock someone's &$&'s off with something truly special get these. Arrived about a week earlier than they had indicated and within a week of ordering and they were still perfectly frozen. I'd buy these again.
