Just received my new Frye Melissa Satchel in Ice, and it was love at first sight, touch and smell. This is the perfect bag for me that I've been seeking for a long time. It is so hard these days to find a leather bag that actually looks, feels and smells like good quality leather. I hate Saffiano leather, because it is so thick and rough and no longer resembles leather after it has been so heavily treated. Ice happened to be the color I was looking for, and it was an added bonus that this color was over $100 less expensive than the other colors. Also, though the leather is smooth and soft to the touch, it is very solid and sturdy. For me it is the perfect size, holding all my daily essentials comfortably. My iPad fits easily in it, but my laptop does not. So if this is an issue for you, this may not be your best choice. Another reviewer expressed disappointment that there was no dust bag. But, mine came with a really nice dust bag., It is a thick, soft, cotton flannel that would hold up well in the washer and dryer if needed. Great purchase! Highly recommend. Thanks Amazon!

Love the quality & style of this bag! Real leather & hardware is well made. Definitely worth it given the price! It is on the heavy side so would not recommend it for a long trip or all day errands. Frye products are well made & never disappoint!

I just received this purse and it was obviously already returned once. All the tissue paper was torn and taped back together with scotch tape. I inspected the bag and it had 3 scratches on the bottom and another on the side. These are deep scratches and the finish is completely gone. I returned it.
I reordered the bag and another arrived today. It, too, has torn tissue paper and this time, a very large rubbed mark on the side. This is a beige purse and this color is sold for about $100 less than the others, so maybe they are all damaged? Given the nature of the finish, I think I can condition the leather and make the rub mark blend in.......that is the plan. This is a well made purse and a great style. It's a shame they didn't arrive as they were intended, but I think this one can be fixed more easily than the first.

If you are a Frye fan and like a rugged, distressed bag and don't need a lot of compartments, you will like this bag. I lusted over this bag in Ice for years after spotting a lady carrying one through the airport. I have several pairs of Frye boots, but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to pay the cost on this bag. Finally did it a few months ago.

I. Love. It. The color is gorgeous, and it's getting 'beaten up' nicely. There are no pockets other than the ones on the wall of the satchel, they are fairy flat and small slide-in style with one larger zip pocket. I don't carry a lot of small, loose stuff in my bag, so it works. If you're someone who does, or wants things very organized, you'll probably hate it.

The quality is, of course, excellent. Thick, heavy, beautiful leather that feels and smells amazing. Good gusseting, so that the bag retains its shape when you set it down. Roomy interior, well made adjustable and removable strap. Handles will fall flat to the purse if using the strap.

This bag will last for a decade or more if you take care of it, and it'll look great doing it. If this is your style, don't hesitate to invest in one of these bags.
