As a professional artist I have used tracing paper for years to sketch first then trace my own initial drawings! Professionals "think" with tracing paper. You sketch on the tracing paper because it is thin enough to see thru when you put your final paper over it using a lightbox (or a bright window).

My granddaughter just became interested in drawing and of course she was erasing a lot. I got her this tracing paper and showed her the benefits of sketching on it then taping it to a window and putting her nicer paper on top, taping it too, then lightly tracing her final sketch onto the nice paper. She loves it! She had drawn a horse and got it too far to the edge of the tracing paper, so when she copied the drawing to her nice paper she was able to center the horse on the paper and was thrilled.

This is excellent quality paper for professionals or anyone. It takes pencils, ink, and markers (with no bleed thru).

This is good traditional art tracing paper. Not the tissue paper for tattoos. Unfortunately the pad I got was bound badly and had permanent wrinkles down the centers of the pages rendering it useless.
