This chair mat came rolled up in a box, and took several days to flatten out. Mine didn't end up as wavy as some of the other reviewers' pictures indicate though. My problems were mainly with curling at the edges, and I set books and other heavy objects along all four edges to get it to stay flat. It looks okay now, but somehow dirt and other things keep getting under the mat so I'm led to believe that it didn't actually fully flatten out. It looks flat to me, so the dirt/dust is more of an annoyance than anything else.
I bought two mats, one was this AmazonBasics brand and the other from another brand on Amazon, since I needed two different sizes. I set the two side by side, and the AmazonBasics brand is much less transparent than the other brand. It's more noticeable on my hardwood floor, so it's a little less appealing. I'm keeping it though since it serves my needs and I don't really want to wait another week for a different chair mat to flatten out.

It came rolled (somewhat) and creased as if it were rolled around a square roller. So that was weird. However, after a couple of weeks it finally fully flattens out. It's thin but works really well on hardwoods or hard floors.

I appreciate that this chair mat arrived in a flat box; The mat was not rolled or folded, it was kept in it's intended state: flat. Thus, it was just a matter or removing it from the box and placing it on the floor (vacuum the floor, to avoid any debris/dirt being between your floor and the underside of the mat).
I used this mat under the stationary/exercise bike, to protect the floor. It's the perfect size.
A chair mat is a relatively simple product. This being an Amazon Basics product delivers a very credible mat at a very welcome price point. I feel it's a very good value for a viable protective chair mat. 4.5+ stars.

I used this to cover an older mat that was over a carpet and was deteriorating. I did a great of giving the old mat over a the carpet new life. I am sure it would work well on a hardwood floor as intended, but it has worked well in the application that I have used it for. I would recommend this mat.
