Very Good Product

Great shipping! Arrived well packaged. A little time on the scan temp, but it gets the job done. For higher temps (+1000F), you need to get uncomfortably close. Scard it would melt. Has difficulty scanning above 1000F
You can spend more money if you want to but .....

I have an independent geology lab (ie gold prospecting) and continually melt ore samples to determine any degree of value in precious metals. The tasks must be as expedient an accurate as possible. You can't melt quartz and feldspar without knowing how hot the samples are getting. This device will measure up to 3,000F, which is sufficient when looking for gold and silver. If you are looking for platinum groups, you will need a device that measures temperatures above 3,000F.
When using it, always make sure you extrapolate "distance" from the source and add about 50 degrees for every inch or so to what you are reading.
There are other devices that are more expensive but, this device, for the price, this is the best value.

Compared to my 1100゚ model Of a different brand they are Close the temperature sure until it gets above 800 degrees then they can be a 100゚ degrees apart But I'm blaming that on the smaller model cause it tops out at 1100 Degrees. 100゚ difference in the forge is acceptable
Great for Raynauds and Erthromelagia suffers

My son bought this for his own use as he's really into learning melting points and boiling points of all kinds of things. It however has had an unplanned medical use for me. I was recently diagnosed with Raynauds and erythomelagia meaning monitoring my skin temperatures are VERY important to protect from wounds and possibly worse. This is very easy for me to use with swollen painful hands/joints and appears very accurate. You can set it to show you highs/lows of an area if you hold button down and keep scanning.
Works great. Setup sucks

Works great except that it took 20 minutes to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit because the instructions did not help. Unless I got a defective model. Eventually I got it to change and now all I do is pull the trigger to scan. Good enough for me
