I bought this for my 78-year-old mom because she had a couple of incidents not completely turning off her gas stovetop. Many people don't realize how much your sense of smell declines with age. Well, it happened again, and luckily this sensor alarm went off and alerted her before it was too late. When I entered the house a couple hours later (she had not told me about the incident) I could still smell a very strong odor of gas, but luckily she had turned it off and opened a window. From the strong odor, I wish the detector was more sensitive and the alarm had gone off sooner since it was placed very close to the stove, but at least it sounded (and loudly). A natural gas alarm is essential for anyone with a gas stove, as well as a carbon monoxide detector for those with gas heat which can pose an odorless danger. Learn the differences in the types of gas detectors and don't delay making your loved ones safe at home.

I have no sense of smell so along with my smoke and CO detectors a natural gas detector is an important monitoring device in my home. This is a very simple device to use, simply plug it into an outlet, wait a few minutes for it to boot up and sniff the air and you're set. Remember to have it in an outlet that is always on, not a switchable outlet as it does not have battery backup. If not for the lack of battery backup, I would have easily given this 5 stars for ease of use and value for price.

The only thing I don't like about this is that the design blocks the second outlet plug - the case is too long and blocks the lower receptacle.

I purchase (2) 1 in the kitchen and 1 in my LAUNDRY ROOM it has a red lite that gives you the reading. We have SMOKE ALARM, CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM BUT no NATURAL GAS ALARM. NEED TO ADD THAT TO YOUR HOME!!! 5/17/23 I JUST HAD A POWER SURGE AND THE ALARM WENT OFF. I HAD TO UNPLUGE AND WAIT ABOUT 10 MINUTES PLUG IT BACK IN AND IT RESET!!!!!THIS is nice to have in California in case we have an EARTHQUAKE it will let you know if you have a gas leak!!!!
