I suspect some TV manufacturers don't spend as much money as others on that feature. I'm no audiophile but the sound is fine to my ears. At this point, (early on) I can't complain.

I recently saw at Target an optical cable for a brand I don't even know selling for $20!! If you aren't a big audio person and you are like me and you just want to free up an HDMI port from your sound bar to this, then get it. I believe the audio is better than HDMI. Great investment.
