What you need to know is," jacket" is a pretty loose term. This is a very light windbreaker at best. Layer up if you need to stay warm.

I bought a mountain jacket maybe 4 years ago that is more insulated than this one. This one was more like a jet stream jacket which is good for wind but not as much for cold. I could be wrong but this is my gut.

Another great Sitka product. The jacket is light but both quiet and wind proof. It seems like it would also withstand a light rain. The jacket is form fitting and has nice pockets. This will be an excellent early season western elk hunting piece.
