My child is learning trombone, there are times I am on a work call and she is also at home doing at home learning remote and is playing along virtually with her band class (covid). She also goes to visit family who live in an apartment and the trombone is much to loud for the paper thin walls. This makes it so she can still practice but be muted. She said it didn't really make it too hard to play with it in.
Thank you for this product!!! It's much needed during such a time where everyone is home together trying to do different things simultaneously

Great practice mute!

I play the french horn and wanted a practice mute but haven't had the best of luck with them. For $20 I decided to give this a try. When the mute arrived, I looked at it and thought, "there's no way". It's a plastic shell with a small hole at the bell end and a little 2-3 inch tube going from the hole into the mute and a foam pad where it goes into the horn. But I gave it a try and it works crazy well. I don't have a handy decibel meter, but it's probably around the range of people talking in a normal conversation, if not softer. Intonation is very decent. There's a bit of back pressure (resistance) as to be expected, but it's not much and you'll easily adjust to it. I'm pleasantly surprised and will be using it a ton.
IT IS SO QUIET OMG!!!

Works Well for the Price

Works well, especially for $20. For those who care, it doesn't fit completely flush in the bell, but still fits fine in my gig bags, and likely would fit in many cases as well. Sometimes the pitch gets a little "nomadic," but not nearly as bad as other practice mutes that cost five times as much. Very light. A final note: one incredibly annoying trait of all practice mutes I've tried is that they push the air back against my embouchure when I'm slurring from 4th or 5th position to 1st position. This Pampet mute does NOT do that, which makes it worth far more than what it costs.
Great product! Especially for online band class!

I bought this for my son who's playing trombone in band class, since classes are currently online this helped immensely. With 3 other kids doing classes online and my husband working from home, my son could play during class without disrupting anyone else, and his teacher was still able to hear him. Defiantly worth it. The only con is you have a bit more resistance obviously which makes it harder to get the right tune, but he just had to practice with it more to get use to it.
