Leaky threading, but works well to control water flow volume from showerhead

Leaks from the showerhead end, but fulfills the main utility of it - which is to lower the volume/pressure of the water from the showerhead.
Be warned - the top nut screws into the bottom section so if the unit is too tightly thread into the shower head thread, that bottom section does separate from the top nut and can get damaged.
The cylinder wall is quite thin - price reflects that but still worth mentioning.

Got this because the wacky plumbing where my daughter is renting has the water coming out of the shower akin to a cutting water jet and it was painful.
I installed one of these in just a few minutes. I did put in PTFE tape on both sides even though I should not have needed it on the o-ring side. I figure, it could not hurt.
Anyway instantly the old showerhead started working properly. I am guessing that the flow regulator in the old showerhead was damaged (It looked pretty bad) and this is acting like a replacement upstream variable flow regulator. Even wide open, the shower was working fine - so I am guessing that wide open this unit is still implementing some sort of max designed flow regulation which is a reasonable number for a shower.
If my daughter wants it lighter, it is a very easy slide to go from wide open to off (do not count on this as an 'off' valve but it will get to essentially off) and everything in between.

Good things come in small packages. Wow. Having control of water pressure by way of this little nugget of plumbing brilliance is a life-changer. Don't suffer, being blasted by a fire hose shower, and stop turning yourself upside down [to wash your rear end] in bad water pressure caused by your shower head. The German side of me hates wasting water but in the USA, it seems common to have showers which blast water at high volume without a care about wasting a lot of water and you can't turn it down. Dumb!
These little valves let you turn down the flow to a more sensible volume to both save water and not fill your bathroom with steam, which is also sensible.
You won't need a plumber to install it. Just use the thread tape that's included with the valve and put 3-4 wraps around the threads and install it inline between your shower head and pipe from the wall.
Don't over tighten. You won't want to damage anything. Just make it tight enough so that no water seeps out the threads.

Added this to my shower and removed the flow restrictor in the shower head. Now my wife can turn the flow up when she is washing her long hair but we can turn it down the rest of the time. Can be a bit noisy at some settings.
