We have the sun directly beaming its light AND Heat into our West facing window each day. Usually a good thing. In the Summer though, a bit much.
We also have the T.V. on that wall, and it can be hard to watch Movies or Shows that were made for Nighttime, or darkened theater watching.
this blocks the majority of the heat, keeping the room a lot cooler. It also blocks the Light about 95% or more. Our window frame is sunk into the wall so there is a gap, but the shade has made it way better to see what we are watching, without taping a bag or cardboard on the wall.
we are getting some more for the bedroom, to help save on A/C bills this summer.
